The shadow was amateur criminologist Lamont Cranston. He had learned “the hypnotic power to cloud men’s minds so that they cannot see him”. The opening to the show, “Who knows … what evil … lllllurks … in the heart of men? … The Shadow knows! His “friend and companion, the lovely Margo Lane, is the only person who knows to whom the voice of the invisible Shadow belongs”. Together they confront the maddest assortment of lunatics, sadists, ghosts and werewolves ever heard on the air. In this episode:
A low rambling cottage is set upon a lonely strip of sandy beach. Even inside the cottage, you can hear the distant boom of the waves, and the low moan of the wind. The occupants of the beachside cabin are Max Hayes and his wife, Lucia, who are being haunted by a specter, who visits Max at the old beachside cabin each evening. The fear is driving Max insane, and so he brings in Lamont Cranston and Margo Lane to solve the case...
