It turns out you can take macro photographs on a smartphone using a drop of water as a lens!

This is not a new technique and I'm not the first person to do it. In fact it has been around for a while: https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/compound-eye/transform-your-iphone-into-a-microscope-just-add-water/

The images are blurry around the edges and the water droplet is sensitive to vibrations, but it's still impressive for a technique that costs literally nothing and can be done anytime and anywhere. I could spend a whole afternoon photographing stuff this way!
