One Simple Thing I Do to Protect My Future as a Voice Actor
Visual Description: A woman dressed in a blue, prairie-revival style dress faces the camera. She has brown hair and wears blue-rimmed eyeglasses that help her to see. She talks verbally in this video. There is a wooden cabinet in the background.
Description: I wanted to talk about one simple thing that I do to protect my future as a voice actor. I am concerned about the rise of AI or synthetic voices. For better or for worse AI voices are getting better over time, and I don't want my voice to be used to essentially train my replacement. I am proactive and now ask for an Artificial Intelligence Rider to be signed before I do voice acting for any new project that I become involved in.
I personally love and use the NAVA (National Association of Voice Actors) Artificial Intelligence Rider. This should be a link to the version 3.5 of the sample document (current as of 6/11/24): https://navavoices.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/ARTIFICIAL-INTELLIGENCE-RIDER-V3.5-4.17.24.docx
