Description:
The world of Soma was once ruled by the Sun King, who got too drunk on his power and got deposed by Form and Dissonance. Afterwards, Soma is split in two with each side being dominated by either Joy or Sorrow. The guardian spirits of the two worlds, Heart of the World of Joy and Soul of the World of Sorrow, must work together to maintain the balance of Soma, but this requires them to make tough choices.

Fortunately, I kept a 3 Joy Orb save right before the Maltose Mine boss, allowing me to just get 3 Sorrow Orbs to balance my orbs. This time, Oakley and Mason compliment us, but tell us there is more to the Sun King's tale that what the public knows. Others learned of the Sun King's scheme and sought to take that power for themselves.
19:16 Form and Dissonance's Truce
Form and Dissonance are angered because a balance of orbs will cause the Worlds of Joy and Sorrow to merge into the original Soma. They decide if they can't have their utopias of very specific emotions, they'll just team up to destroy the world, claiming that people will inevitably go to war because of their conflicting emotions. They take the orbs to the Sun King's citadel and cause a great void to appear, sucking in parts of the world. Fortunately, Mason will open a portal to the citadel.

This place functions just like the Puppeteer battle in that both characters can access their full skillset. However, the enemies are also a bit stronger to compensate.
As you travel through the new maps of the citadel, you'll run into Sunny and Lunar, who mistake you for evil intruders. Eventually, you'll follow them to a room containing two weapons.

They skip a lot of turns, so their numbers didn't help them as much as I thought.

The two guards realize that you're here to save the world, so they hand over the Duo weapons. These weapons are a bit weaker than the Terror weapons though.
You will once again need two keys to get into the last part of the citadel, but they aren't guarded this time. Maybe Sunny and Lunar are the completed forms of the Tower Keepers from the other endings.
At the top, you'll run into the Sun King, who explains that he wanted to use the power of Absolution to rule the world, but realized that Form and Dissonance wanted to use that power for their own plans to eradicate undesirable emotions. The battle caused the world to be split in two, and all participants were greatly weakened. The Sun King then used his powers to create Heart and Soul, causing him to revert to being a human.
Form and Dissonance claim that because of Heart and Soul's differences, they can never truly form a team. The two then use the orbs to fuse into Quietus, a being based on their final boss forms from the other routes.

Once you do enough damage, the battle ends.
53:23 Dafuq is That?!
Quietus transports everyone to an area that looks like the final arena in the other routes, but darker. As you go north, you'll meet Quietus's new form, a monstrous looking face that contrasts the cutesy look of everything else in the game.

The party fights the shadowed face, but the enemy keeps getting stronger, to the point where our attacks do single-digit damage.
59:19 Childhood
The Sun King uses the last of his power to show Heart and Soul a flashback of their childhood, where the two disagreed philosophically. However, Oakley tells them that while they'll always be different, they can learn from these differences and other people's differences, and that they should respect each other's differing lifestyles. Though there is the Paradox of Tolerance when it comes to Quietus's views.
Back to the present, Heart and Soul gain more confidence in their teamwork. Quietus claims that they'll eventually grow to hate each other and starts the fight again.

You'll be able to do damage now, and the shadows will eventually clear to reveal the boss's true form. The orbs will turn against Absolution one-by-one as the battle progresses.
