Onward - Oculus Quest 2 Gameplay
0There are sooooo many great shooters on the Quest that it takes a hell of a lot for one to stand out for me. Onward definetly stands out but it has just as many negatives as it has positives 🤷🏼♂️
Pros:
*Graphically it’s one of the best shooters on the quest 2, the guns look great, backgrounds look very realistic and it makes for a more enjoyable VR experience
** Movement is spot on, you can creep round corners, duck, take cover simply and easily
*** Level design, the levels are huge (for VR), plenty to hide behind, jump out from and duck/cover
**** Weapons. The weapon selection starts pretty basic but as you progress you can get more guns, upgrade and mod your weapons as you see fit
Cons:
*The game has ZERO instructions. There’s training to learn how to be able to use your weapons but actually getting into a game, set ups and things like that are non existent and I had to ask a friend who also has the game 🤷🏼♂️
** The weapons. Quick reloading becomes a pain as 5 out 10 times you’ll cock the gun and it won’t register and you’ll need to do it again which in the middle of a gun fight results in death..
*** The weapons….AGAIN. Sights on the guns are wellllll off even with laser sights, you can shoot some one point black in the back of the head and the shot comes up as a shoulder hit
****This ain’t really a developer or game issue as such but playing online, Jesus Christ. Is it annoying. The servers are full of young kids talking absolute shit and it happens on every single online game I’ve played, makes it unbearable
*****Setting up an online game Is a chore In Itself, again not explained at all, takes a while to load, full of Idiots and laggy
******Single player only has 2 game modes and about 10 levels and thats it. This game is clearly meant to be played online but I just cannot get into it at all
Onward is a Good game but not a great game and If you want a great shooter I’d recommend Zero Caliber and Pavlov over this any day of the week
For me it’s a 3*** Out of 5
