or not to [B]e | Discovering the Truth - NieR: Automata
And that concludes Route B! Hope all of you who've been following this playlist enjoyed it, since I originally wasn't gonna post any further vids of Automata at all xP With adding limited commentary this time, it took me just 5-6 days to get all of these vids uploaded, as opposed to the month it took for Route A. I mean, my Route A portion also has more videos, but still I was able to do these much faster, which also drastically lowers the chance of having an error cause me to lose my editing progress!
Now, about humans having been dead all along... that should've come as no surprise by now. In my Iron Pipe Story vid, I even flat out explained that Nier killing his Gestalt (the "Original Gestalt") caused Project Gestalt to collapse, making it impossible for the humans' souls to return to their bodies, causing them all to eventually go mad which in-turn would cause all the Replicants to contract the "Black Scrawl" disease and die, and preventing more Replicants from being made, so humanity was doomed to an inevitable extinction.
Remember, this game takes place in the same universe and timeline. That absolutely would carry over into Automata. The failure of Project Gestalt caused the human race to completely die out (sans Emil), but the lie was being kept that humans were still alive, so androids wouldn't lose morale in their fight against the machines.
Also, a bit of lore on Eve. The symbol on his chest is actually that of Legion. And if you remember, in the first NieR, people who contracted White Chlorination Syndrome were forced to make a pact with a god, which if they refused would turn them into salt, and if they accepted, would turn them into mindless inhuman servants of the god, known as Legion.
I also mentioned that Drakenguard is the prequel to the first NieR, which is where Legion is originally from. Well, notice how Eve not only has the Legion symbol on his chest, but the red markings around his eyes. "Red Eye" was a condition in Drakenguard that would cause scarlet red eyes in the victim (those associated with the Empire), as well as make them exhibit violent, berserk behavior. In the lore of NieR, beings known as "Red Eyes" lead the armies of Legion that were created by the White Chlorination Syndrome.
Is Eve's Legion chest symbol and red markings simply a reference to the Red Eye of Drakenguard, or had he actually in fact succumb to the Red Eye condition himself, causing him to go berserk? Because those black markings on him were not normal.
Either way, it's a really cool reference. Red Eye has more to do with magic from the Old World, but I'd say that some of Adam and Eve's abilities seem more magic-based than machine-based.
Anyway, you won't find out who the girls in the Hanger and at the part where 2B choked out 9S are yet. But you're definitely meant to, because the story actually continues further after Route B! Will I continue to record for Route C? Maybe. If I do, again I'll probably have limited commentary so it doesn't become too long of a task for me. It depends on what I record and how much. It's definitely something that would be easier to just stream and commentate live as I'm playing, but at least I got Route A & B on video x)
Also I loved 9S entering Earth's atmosphere from space, and being able to play/continue the game DURING the credits was amazing! I kinda sped through some of the lines of dialogue, since I wasn't sure what would happen if I didn't do what I was supposed to do before the credits ended. At one point I caught on that I'd be fine to do everything I wanted before entering 2B's room.
Will 9S tell 2B the truth? One thing is certain. There's still a battle ahead of us.
