Today we're reviewing the Ortz PS4 Vertical Stand. This is the upgraded version with 4 Controller Slots and 4 USB Ports. We previously reviewed the old version with a few less features. Let's compare the two and find out if the Ortz PS4 Vertical Stand is worth picking up.

The Ortz PS4 stand is a multi use device. It has a built in fan, four USB ports, and four controller ports. And it obviously allows you to keep your PS4 stored vertically which can be convenient for certain setups to reduce the amount of horizontal space your system takes up. Installing the PS4, it fits perfectly in the designated slot and it is very stable. I wouldn't be worried about it getting knocked over, but you should always have your consoles in a secure setup. It's still easy to access ports in the back and buttons on the front.
The stand has four controller charging ports: two on each side of your console. The controllers just lock in to place via the micro USB connection and the slot design is just as stable as the console. Your controllers aren't going anywhere unless you choose to pull them out. Charging works as long as your console is powered on or in rest mode because it draws power from the USB ports. If you're like me, you always misplace your controllers and neglect to charge them. So it's nice to have all of your controllers in one place and fully charged when you are ready to go.
The USB hub has four ports located conveniently on the front of the stand. However it requires two ports to power all the functions of the stand, so it's going to be the same amount of power outputted. The design of the default PS4 USB ports is awful. The are hard to reach and hard to find. So having the four easily accessible ports on the front of this stand is a lifesaver. I'm constantly plugging in extra devices from keyboards to headsets for online gaming, so it makes a huge difference having those four ports.
The fan helps keep the console cool which I'm always a supporter of because the last generation had so many heat issues. If you don't like the fan due to noise or extra power consumption, you can always disable it with the switch on the front. It's great that they put that option in because the fan is probably the least crucial feature on this device.
Comparing it to the old version, this version has one additional USB port on the front and two additional controller slots. Otherwise the build quality and function is exactly the same. Should you upgrade if you have the old version? Probably not unless you desperately need the extra port and controller slots. Should you pick it up if you don't currently have a solution? Yes. I can highly recommend the Ortz PS4 vertical stand because it has multiple features that many people need. Whether you need to change the orientation of your PS4 or you need the extra USB capabilities the Ortz stand can be a great addition for your PS4.
