Rise of The Tomb Raider Aim Greater Trailer Analysis / Pre E3 2015 Footage, Holiday Release
As we get closer to E3, we're getting more hints about the new Rise Of The Tomb Raider game that is exclusive to Xbox One. Let's take a closer look at what we know so far on this new Tomb Raider game.
In this trailer, we see that the game is picking up where Tomb Raider 2013 left off. The hardships and the harsh environments are still here, but this time she's in the arctic area of Siberia. It's a complete 180 from the last game, and that's a good thing. Not only will this game look different, but the arctic environment will have very different mechanics.
In the story of Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara struggles to prove that she is not insane and that her supernatural experiences were a reality. She is literally obsessed with finding the truth behind the myths around the world. But it's also about her destiny. She's knows that she's unique.
The climbing axe returns and we know that there will be a ton of climbing as you scale the mountains. It's really a new generation of platforming where it's not about hitting certain points, it's about a dynamic environment that looks amazing. This next gen Tomb Raider is built from the ground up for Xbox One so we can expect better visuals and the most modern programming. Being able to climb in many areas also opens up new opporunities for stealth as Lara can bypass enemies altogether.
The rumors still stand for a Holiday 2015 release as a timed Xbox One exclusive. Microsoft is publishing this game so a Playstation or even a PC version still seems slim, but we won't find out for probably at least a year after release. That's about how long it took for previous timed exclusives like Ryse and Dead Rising 3 to come to PC. I'm hoping there is still a chance for a PC version because Tomb Raider 2013's PC version was miles above the console version. I mean it had it's own engine just for her hair.
It's crazy that we haven't seen any real gameplay, yet it's scheduled for release later this year. I'm assuming E3 will be a huge explosion of content. And they are definitely in a race to release this before Uncharted 4 on Playstation 4. That's the whole reason Microsoft is buying their way into this series. Tomb Raider is their answer to Uncharted just as Sunset Overdrive was their answer to Infamous Second Son.
