Otoshimasu [落としマス ] Game Sample - PC/Doujin
Original Air Date: October 22, 2009
This is I believe the first game made by ClassiC思考回路, the same developers of Crescent Pale Mist and "Grana Embrace" (A very stylized strategy RPG with characters that sorta remind me of those found in Radiata Stories). It's a wild action/party game of sorts that supports up to four players and is based around the popular Sgt. Frog (ケロロ軍曹, Keroro Gunsou, Sergeant Keroro) anime and manga series. The object of the game is to knock competitors off the stage. The last one standing wins.
It features a decent roster of characters each with unique characteristics ranging from power and speed to resilience and recovery time, as well as each character starting each round with weapons of their personal preference, though you can acquire several others. Additionally, each character has a flashy super attack that can be invoked when their special gauge is max, though it consumes all of their energy. While picking a character that suits your play style is important, the terrain and power-ups are just as important, if not more so.
Different levels have a variety of tiles that can push you around and hamper movement (arrows of varying directions), rapidly recover your barrier/step gauge or special gauge, spring you into the air, destroy your weapons, and other things. The colors of the tiles make a big difference too; You can only stand in one spot for so long before the ground beneath you gives in and plummets you to your doom. Some characters can destroy tiles with their specials while others can deteriorate the ground, creating a panicky situation for those who like to sit around and think. Special weapons can also manipulate the tiles and/or destroy them. Some can even repair the ground or make land for you to walk on. There are also miscellanious items to give you special energy or deplete your energy and wacky items like banana peels, which forces characters who get too close to walk over them and slip.
The game takes some getting used to due to the hectic pace and fast-moving characters and action, but it's a very fun and simple game overall and a neat game from Classic思考回路 that was perhaps overshadowed by their current most-raved creation, Crescent Pale Mist. Enjoy.
