Overwatch: Zenyatta Overview & Introduction! (Abilities & Lore)
459Zenyatta is one of the support characters of Overwatch. In this video I explain the character, talk about his abilities and potential strategy, show gameplay and cover the lore that currently available for Zenyatta.
Zenyatta is an indirect support healer in Overwatch. He doesn't have the direct heals like for example Mercy does, but he is extremely valuable in team compositions. While Zenyatta can deal some damage, he is going to be played as a team as his base health is very low.
Orb of Destruction (LMB) - Zenyatta shoots Orbs of Destruction at his enemies, dealing damage.
Orb of Destruction (RMB) - Hold down to shoot a burst of Orbs all at once.
Orb of Harmony (Shift) - Applies an Orb to an ally that will continually heal up that ally.
Orb of Discord (E) - Applies an Orb to an enemy, making them take bonus damage.
Transcendence (Q) - Ultimate ability that does a massive area of effect heal.
Zenyatta is one of the characters where team composition and positioning is crucial. Knowing who to use the Orb of Harmony and who to target with the Orb of Discord is going to be key. This gives Zenyatta the potential to be chosen as a counter pick to teams that contain a lot of Heroes that rely on close combat and that are relatively squishy.
Zenyatta is a Monk as well as a robot. Crisis a group of robots experienced spiritual awakening. They left their old lifes behind and established a communal monastery. They came to the conclusion that they possessed the essence of a soul. After this realization they sought to heal both humans and robots and tried to make both of them live in harmony.
Zenyatta however disagreed with this direction. He beliefs that these problems shouldn't be fixed with teaching, but through interpersonal connection and engagement. He now follows his own path.

Unveiled on November 7, 2014 at BlizzCon, the game emphasizes cooperative gameplay using a cast of various "heroes", each with their own abilities and roles within a team. The game is scheduled to enter a closed beta phase in the fall of 2015.
