Novawing24 suits up and climbs aboard the Venerable McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II from MilViz Studios.

The Phantom had its origins in the mid 1950's to fulfil constantly changing US Navy requirements. It's two-seat design was to fulfil it's initial role as a long-range interceptor with the Weapons Systems Officer (WSO or more colloquially the GIB - Guy In Back) handling the complex radar and avionics for its day.

Political pressure would see it's adoption by the USAF as well as the USMC to be a multi-service design.

The F-4E was considered by many to be the ultimate expression of the Phantom II with the correction of the early design's lack of an internal cannon.

Entering service in 1960 it continues in service with several Air Forces around the world to this day.
