Pac-Man World 2 (0%) - The Bear Basics
20Okay, there's a lot to unpack here. First of all, this forgoes collecting the 35 dots in the level's pac-dot chain, long thought to be impossible to skip. Now we can complete the level 0%, 0 points. To do this, start by jumping at the bit of wall I do and you'll be out of bounds. It's really that easy, and I'm glad we finally have a use for this trick. Progress to the back of the OOB section and rev-roll off the level in the direction of the pond. After releasing the rev-roll, hold the up-left direction.
Edit: This was done on the PC version, where you can clip out of bounds on the right and left walls at the start of the level. This is not possible on some systems such as the US GameCube, and we are still looking for ways to get this to work on all versions.
Luckily for us, it seems the water from the pond extends infinitely downwards and we can swim underneath it. See that mass of gray texture at 0:31? That's the pond, and we want to get behind it to clip back in-bounds. Unfortunately if we're anywhere near it, the camera spazzes out like crazy and we lose all orientation, so we need a way to navigate there consistently. Upon landing in the water, immediately start diving, and reorient yourself to face the shortest direction towards the pond before the camera goes jittery. Once you dip below the background texture, swim to the surface. In these states, Pac-Man moves forward regardless of the camera direction, so this avoids disorientation. Once you see Pac-Man has swam under the pond, continue rising until the camera normalizes; but also try to circle back and stay close to the pond because the water ends shortly beyond here. When the camera has fixed itself, swim to the right, then a little more forward, and mash the jump button and you should clip back in bounds.
This video series will basically serve as a guide for the Low% speedrunning category. All that is required for that is to collect the least fruit and pac-dots possible. For added challenge however, I will also be minimizing score, extra lives, health wedges, power-ups, checkpoints, and etc collected.
