Padge Plays! Indie Edition - Riders Of Rhea (2017 - Powerhoof) Lets Play Gameplay (Free Game)
Welcome to Padge Plays! Indie Edition
In this series I will be playing some well known and less well known games all the way from yesteryear through to the present, sometimes from consoles and sometimes from the thousands of PC games available either through websites such as Steam, Good Old Games (GOG), as abandonware, (Home of the Underdogs) or through emulation software. (Such as WinVice C64)
In this episode we are playing the game Riders of Rhea by Powerhoof! This is an interesting little game I came across which was made for the Seven Day Roguelike Challenge and it has you driving around a desert moon which has been overrun by outlaws which you need to take down to acquire more fuel, water and weapon upgrades and downgrades! Think of it as a top down Mad Max but with bikes rather than cars and you wouldn't be far off the truth! YOU WILL DIE A LOT so there's no need to get too attached to each playthrough and as it's more of a proof on concept as opposed to something which will get fleshed out you need to treat it more as a score attack game than something which you can chip away at over several lives... Still, if this was made in to a full game I would definitely pick it up!
-- ABOUT THE GAME --
Born on this dry rock, you rode the dunes your entire life, free... Until they build that damned space elevator.
Now a rush on the resources locked below the sandy wasteland had every thug and lowlife in the colonies rushing to your home. But you have your bike, she's never let you down, and the wide wide roads of Rhea are calling.
Created for 7 day Roguelike, this is a more motorcycley take on a space shooter. Blast some baddies, upgrade your bike, and do some sick burnouts. Take out enemies and collect what they drop to upgrade your bike, your only remaining friend on this harsh moon. Try and reach the space elevator and shut it down... You wont succeed...
No seriously, you won't, there's no space elevator in the game, just kill doods and see how high you can get your level before dying.

-- ABOUT THE 7 DAY ROGUELIKE CHALLENGE --
A Seven-Day Roguelike (7DRL) is a roguelike created in seven days. That is, the author stopped writing code 168 hours after they started writing code. A 7DRL can be created at any time during the year. However, general agreement was reached that it would be fun to schedule a specific week for a 7DRL Challenge.[1]
What is a roguelike game? The genre began with the game Rogue, which was created in the 1980s. According to Wikipedia, roguelikes are a sub-genre of role-playing video games, characterised by (1) randomisation (for replayability), (2) permanent death (once a player-character dies, the game cannot be restored at an earlier point), and (3) turn-based movement – although, of course, there are exceptions to each of these principles in various roguelikes.
For historical and practical reasons, many roguelikes depict the game world using ASCII “graphics,” although often newer roguelikes use graphical tiles. Roguelikes typically involve dungeon crawls, with many monsters, items, and environmental features. Brogue is a good example of a contemporary roguelike.
