Unlike Prince Mush, the second of the remake's new superbosses is well-hidden. In order to find this battle, you must first defeat Bonetail at the bottom of the Pit of 100 Trials as well as hit the Whacka in Keelhaul Key until it stops appearing. Once both of these conditions are met, you will eventually receive a special RDM issue email that reveals a mysterious creature was seen in the Pit of 100 Trials. Return there and fight your way to the bottom once again; using the Puni Mover at the entrance to skip down to floor 50 is okay. At the bottom you will find a single Whacka in Bonetail's room, and if you hit it, it will fight you.

In battle, Whacka's strategy revolves around Whacka Bumps. Every individual time it is hit will cause it to drop one Bump, and the Bumps serve as ammunition for both its offense and healing. When it has Bumps around it, it will either throw them all one at a time for 10 damage per hit, or eat one to recover 25 HP. A red Bump will sometimes appear, which is far more powerful and recovers more HP. Should Whacka find itself with no Bumps available, it will shake the ground and deliberately damage itself in order to generate some.

Therefore, the most direct way to defeat Whacka is to do so in as few hits as possible. This makes the Charge badges invaluable, as they can dramatically inflate the amount of damage you are capable of doing. Pack plenty of Ultra Mushrooms, Jammin' Jellys and Life Mushrooms, too, along with some Boo Sheets as they will prove invaluable in avoiding Whacka's attacks.

If you manage to win, you will receive a Gold Whacka Bump as an icon of your victory. Whacka can be rebattled any time by returning to Bonetail's room.
