The second Parodius game, which is a parody of Gradius.
...PAROdy GraDIUS...
It follows the Gradius gameplay pretty good, with some crazy bosses.
You can pick four different characters to play with, each with a different weapon configuration system based on other Konami games.
Vic Viper, the ship from Gradius, got the normal Gradius configuration.
Octopus configuration is based on the Salamander arcade game.
Twinbee is based on the Twinbee games.
Pentarou is based on Gradius II: Gofer's Ambition.

This is the European version, because it is one of a handful of games that was released in Europe but not in NA, and it is pretty fun.
I prefer the GameBoy version over this version, and the Arcade version is of course the superior version (they had to skip and censor some parts for the Nes/GameBoy version), but it is still playable and fun.
