Path of Exile 2 Update: Major Changes to Dodge Roll, Checkpoints, Loot, and More! Mercenary Gameplay
Play Battle Babes: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2787350/Battle_Babes/
The launch weekend for Path of Exile 2 has been absolutely incredible! We’ve loved seeing all of you dive into the game and explore the project we’ve poured so much time and passion into. Thank you for your enthusiasm and feedback—it’s been amazing!
Now that the launch weekend is behind us, it’s time to dig into your feedback and make some improvements. There’s a lot more coming, but we’re prioritizing a few key areas that needed immediate attention. Here’s a breakdown of the most urgent changes:
🚀 Dodge Roll Improvements
We’ve heard your frustrations about getting trapped by monsters. While it’s intentional for enemies to be able to corner and kill you, the frequency of these situations was a bit too high.
Upcoming changes:
Player size during dodge rolls is now set to zero units (previously one unit).
Some smaller monsters, like Adorned Beetles in Keth, can now be pushed while dodge rolling.
These changes should reduce the frequency of getting stuck, although it’s still possible to be trapped by monsters.
🏞 Checkpoint System Changes
Many players found it tedious to backtrack through areas to return to objectives. To address this:
Upcoming changes:
Checkpoints will now allow teleportation to other explored checkpoints within the same area.
Checkpoints have been added to all zone entrances and exits.
A new checkpoint has been added to the midpoint of the first Dreadnaught area.
We’ll continue tweaking checkpoint placement based on your feedback.
💎 Item and Loot Adjustments
Rare Monster Rewards
Rare monsters weren’t rewarding enough, especially in the endgame.
Changes deployed:
Rarity bonus per rare mod has been doubled.
Quantity bonus per rare mod increased by 10%.
Rare monsters now scale with more mods as you progress through the endgame.
These changes ensure better rewards, especially in higher-level content.
Currency Updates
Some currencies felt too scarce, while others were overly abundant.
Changes deployed:
Regal Orb drop rates increased by 40%.
Disenchanting six-mod rares now yields two Regal Shards (up from one).
Lesser Jeweller’s Orb drop rates increased by 33%.
Chaos Orb drop rates slightly reduced to balance the rare currency pool.
Gemcutter’s Prism drop rates increased by 500% and now grant +5% gem quality (up from +1%).
Map Mod Changes
Players weren’t seeing enough value from map mods.
Changes deployed:
Rarity mods increased by 2.5x.
Quantity mods now include extra rarity bonuses.
Low-tier mods removed, increasing the likelihood of rolling valuable mods.
📜 "Unlucky" Drop Protection
To address outlier cases where bad drops significantly impact progression:
Changes deployed:
Unique monsters will no longer drop more than 50% gold items.
Act and Map bosses are guaranteed to drop at least one rare item.
This ensures better rewards and more impactful loot drops.
🖱 Click-to-Move Fix
The "Move Only" command was causing characters to attack unexpectedly.
Fix deployed:
The "Move Only" command no longer namelocks.
🌍 Endgame Maps
Missing rare monsters and low monster density were common complaints.
Upcoming changes:
Rare monsters will now appear on the minimap when 200 monsters remain (previously 50).
Additional rare monsters added to many maps to ensure a minimum count.
We’re also working on map layouts and monster density for future patches.
What’s Next?
These are just the initial fixes and improvements. Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue monitoring feedback, making adjustments, and deploying more patches. Keep an eye out for full patch notes for all deployed changes!
