Full disclosure I had to redo the start of this zone twice because the fireworks outside were so loud it was as if there was an explosion right outside my window. Also, sorry about all the salt in the second half of the episode. If you have a section early on that doesn't punish player for looting then you have established that as the norm. Suddenly changing that in order to punish players is just bad game design. The moral hit didn't bother me as much... it was the troop loses that was crippling. I wish that would have just shifted me further and further to the evil alignment instead.
This content was around at beta, so I'm likely the minority when it comes to that opinion. It's worth noting that it's also a good rule to never have an encounter right as soon as you enter a zone/ room. This was something Bethesda commented about years ago when talking about how they do level design. This one is a bit hit or miss, but I feel like there is some truth to that when playing a game that has loading screens and no pause tactical function mid combat. You can pause in Pathfinder Wrath of The Righteous, so that means you do have time to stop and issue commands without suddenly getting steamrolled by a random encounter.
