Pathway is for the most part a turn based strategy game, in a Indiana Jones like universe with Evil German Soldiers, Zombies, Ancient Civilisations, Cults and so on.
The game start is a bit difficult, since it hardly explains anything and when you click on further information you just get to the ingame handbook, which i wasn't willing to read (hehe). This was the reason i got killed in my first attempt, to fight against Cultists and Exploding Zombies which i didn't know that they explode. So i started another round by deleting my save file and started a new one, so you can see the tips you get throughout the game.

So how does a round work. First you pick members of your crew to match the maximum number. Each member to their traits which are usefull in some situations and not only the battles.
After that you get like a overworld map, where you can click on a path you want to go. Landing on such a spot can trigger a random event which can be good or bad. These events can be text based, where your character traits might get you to a good outcome and on some other events you have to fight. Fighting in this game works a bit like in XCOM, there you should take cover behind rocks or walls and have a higher evasion rate from the side where the wall or object is. You usually attack the enemy with ranged attacks and the hitrate is calculated by the range, cover and dexterity of your character. You also have skills which either uses some of your rations or skill points (which recharge by 1 on a succesful normal attack).

The AI in this game is honestly a big dumb, but they often outnumber you and you don't heal after a battle, so they can defeat you by chip damage you down over multiple rounds. So it's important to have someone on your group who can heal you up, even if that takes away your rations.

Okay so you Battle and Event yourself to the Goal of the campaign and hope you got enough gasoline to reach that spot. At the end-spot of the first campaign you enter a battle, which is nearly lost (little spoiler), if you read that far into my description :)
