RIDDLES

Overlook:

I spy eight chimneys (The chimneys of the lighthouse, curio shop, ice cream store, museum, train station, and general store), a candle (On the green truck parked by the boatbuilding shop), a key (On one of the dock posts near Sharky’s), an acorn (To the left of the railroad tracks), an apple (ON the marquee of the general store), a pinecone tree (Hidden in the forest to the left of the lighthouse path);

A pencil (Hidden on the dock piling near the lobster shack), a penny (Lying near the abandoned car behind the museum. Hides a map piece), a fish made of stone (In the rocks near the junction between Sharky’s and the lobster shack), DUCK POND INN (Written along the top of the inn, to the right of the general store), and an ice cream cone (On the marquee for the ice cream store).

Jail Cell:

I spy a feather (Lying on the floor to the northwest of the cork), an acorn (To the left of the mousehole), an eight (In the ivy under the dollar brick), YEARS IN THE DUNGEON (Scratched in the bricks to the right of the hanging shackle), a very old plate (To the right of the domino on the bench);

A squirrel (On the right end of the bench), a snake (Slithering under the ivy above the stone train), a spider (Dangling in between the plates for the wall shackles), a snail (The cobble under the empty jug), a button (On the left wall shackle plate), 2 birds (The cardinal outside of the bars in the window and the bird in the crack to the left of the chain), and a green lizard tail (To the southwest of the button plate. Hides a map piece).

Picnic Table:

I spy a nickel (Under the paper plate), a pickle slice (In the sandwich, to the right of the potato salad), the number one (Spelled in the light yellow corn kernels on the corn on the cob), a fly on the ice (The fly resting on the ice in the glass of soda);

Three flowers (The flower formed by the seeds in the watermelon slice and the purple flowers to the northeast of the sandwich and the left of the plastic fork), three smiles (The smiles in the bread of the sandwich near the plastic knife, blueberries and raspberries to the left of the plastic fork, and the topmost chocolate chip cookie. Hides a map piece), a strawberry snack (To the southwest of the baseball), a boat (Carved in the plastic to the right of the corn on the cob), a bat (To the right of the plastic spoon), a ball (The baseball in the mitt), and a jack (To the right of the glass of soda).

Exhibit:

I spy three years (The 1710 of “Young Mary”, 1732 of “Pierce Strikes”, and 1743 of “Smuggler’s Cove”), two pirate foes (The fight in “Pierce Strikes”), a bird (Flying in the sky to the right of the docked galleon in “Smuggler’s Cove”), three keys (The silver key near the velvet rope stanchion, the bronze key hidden on the frame of “Smuggler’s Cove”, and the shadowy key hidden under the telescope), a lid to close (The treasure chest to the left of Mary in “Pierce Strikes”);

A golden oar (Along the top part of the frame of “Pierce Strikes”), crossed swords (Above the portrait of a young Mary Pierce. Hides a map piece), two dice (One’s in the bobeche of the candlestick to the left of the brass telescope. The other’s on the tip of the grip of the sword on the flag), SMUGGLER’S COVE (Labeled underneath the portrait above the sword flag), and MARY twice (The Mary on signs above “Pierce Strikes” and under “Young Mary”).

Display Case:

I spy five anchors (The anchors on the left border of the case, cover of the Captain’s Log to the left of the black part of the quill, northwest corner of the picture of A. Newman III, red velvet in between the postcard and the dagger's scabbard, and hidden in the rope on the left side of the decorative plate), a place for a key (The keyhole in the lock to the southwest of the dagger), two snakes (One’s near the opening of the dagger sheath. The other’s hidden on the ring to the right of the picture of A. Newman III), a button (Above the emerald), a tail in the sea (The mermaid’s tail in the postcard);

TREASURES (On the exhibit’s name: “Smuggler’s Cove Museum: Treasures from the Past”), two diamonds (One’s on the bauble near the southeast corner of the Queen of Hearts. The other’s near the tip of the dagger), an old pair of dice (Above the bottle’s neck), a jewelry seahorse (On the piece of garnet near the grip of the antique pistol. Hides a map piece), and A. NEWMAN twice (One’s written below the picture of A. Newman III. The other’s on the announcement card for the opening of A. Newman & Sons, to the right of the Captain’s Log).
