RIDDLES

Inn:

I spy a lighthouse (On the horizon inside of the painting), my name (On the green suitcase), a shell (To the left of the miniature captain), DUCK POND INN twice (One’s written below the top of the receptionist’s desk. The other’s on the roof of the inn in the black-and-white photo), a button (In the middle of the cushion in the armchair), a bell (The service bell to the left of the duck lamp);

Ten ducks (The ducks on the potted plant, wooden duck to the left of the yellow suitcase, duck stamp on the yellow suitcase, carved duck to the left of the camera, duck-shaped pond in the painting, duck base of the lamp to the right of the service bell, the three ducks below “Checkout”, and the duck icon to the left of the binoculars. Hides a map piece), a cup (The teacup to the right of the binoculars), three stars in a row (On the spines of the maroon books to the right of the miniature captain), a map (To the southwest of the cushion), and a woman from long ago (The woman in a yellow dress in the painting, to the left of the duck-shaped pond).

Curio Shop:

3 swords (The swords on the head of the doll to the right of the jar of candy, hanging to the left of the galleon, and resting behind the copy of “Treasure Island”), 3 boats (The galleon to the southwest of the parrot, the ship in a bottle to the right of the teddy bear, and the sailboat on the cover of the Boat Race Game), 3 TREASUREs for me (The “Treasures” in the sign of the store along the top of the window, on the cover of “Treasure Island”, and spelled in the wooden blocks holding up the top train), CROOK (Embroidered on the lace cover, above the jar of candy), a castle (The sandcastle on the red pail), 2 flies (One’s on the window’s ledge, to the southeast of the die. The other’s on the window pane, seemingly above the miniature sea captain’s head), and a three (On the die, to the southwest of the unicycle’s pedal).

Lightkeeper’s Quarters:

I spy an inkwell (To the right of the oil lamp), MP (Carved in the side of the lightkeeper’s desk), a mouse (Sticking out of the mouse hole underneath the desk. Hides a map piece), a drawer for a desk (The handle of the drawer is to the southeast of the postcard), a hammer (Disguised as one of the legs of the stool), a house (Hidden as the central hole of the desk);

S.O.S. (Visible in the mortar of the brick chick), a mouth open wide (The mouth of the shark in the cracked plaster, to the northeast of portrait), three brass bells (The two bells of the alarm clock on the desk and the brass bell to the right of the four in the panes), and two boats inside (One’s in a crack to the right of the quill. The other’s on the box to the right of the telescope).

Painting:

I spy three birds (The birds flying to the northwest of the Jolly Roger, hidden in the waves to the southwest of the shark, and on the jibboom of the ship), a needle (Along the topmost border of the top frame), my name (Written below the shark), a boat in the ropes (Under the metal grip of the paintbrush), LUCK in the frame (At the end of “AS POOR OLD THUNDER LOST ITS LUCK”, in the latter half of the saying in the top frame);

SHIVER ME TIMBERS (Written on the inside of the foremast’s bottom sail), a kite (To the left of “Shiver Me Timbers”), a key (Hidden on the mizzenmast, to the right of the car on the sail), a broken mast (The top of the foremast, just seconds from falling into the sea), three stars (The stars twinkling to the northwest of the flying bird, hidden in the southwest intersection of the frame, and in the peeling plaster to the far right of the Jolly Roger. Hides a map piece), and a tree (To the left of lightning bolt striking the foremast).

Shed:

I spy KIDS ONLY (Painted on the column to the right of the four), a lunchbox (On top of the barrel), a bee (On the top spoke of the wheel), a costume (The pirate costume hanging on a nail above the wagon), 2 shovels (The hand trowel to the right of the “X” in the dirt and the dirt shovel to the left of the teddy bear), a shell from the sea (The scallop shell to the left of the blackboard);

MARY PIERCE twice (One’s on “The Legend of Mary Pierce”, to the left of the glue bottle. The other’s written on the drawing of Mary Pierce dueling, to the left of the pirate costume), a cannon (To the left of “The Legend of Mary Pierce”. Hides a map piece), a crown (Carved into the wood to the northeast of the circular hole), a man who’s locked up (The pirate in the doodle on the sketchpad), and a man who fell down (The pirate on the losing end of Mary’s duel in the drawing).
