RIDDLES

Train Station:

I spy a ticket (On the wall above the bench. Hides a map piece), a horn that’s inside (On the left column of the doorway), three safety pins (The two safety pins to the left and right of the clock and the safety pin on the plate of the right door), a bird on a ride (The robin above the train’s light);

Three nines (The nine on the clock and the nines in the third row of the AM arrivals and departures), a button (In the top right corner of the doorway), SMUGGLER’S COVE twice (One’s on a sticker on the brown suitcase. The other’s emblazoned on the train in “Smuggler’s Cove Express”), a suitcase that’s green (Disguised as the bottom left panel in the left door), a nail (Above the top pane of the leftmost window), and two dice (In the gumball machine).

General Store:

I spy POTATOES (On the sack to the right of the barrel), a blue sugar star (On the bag in between the radio and the cheese), two fish (One’s in the wallpaper underneath the green oven mitt. The other’s on a picture hanging above the cash register), two frowns (The scowling apple on the cashier’s desk and the angry ear of corn to the right of the lighthouse postcard), an upside-down jar (To the left of the upside-down can of mixed vegetables);

A cracked egg (To the northeast of the cheese), two seashells (One’s to the northeast of the can of peas. The other’s on the postcard underneath the lighthouse postcard), a bicycle seat (On the bike rental poster), paws (Belongs to the cat resting on top of the barrel. Hides a map piece), a penny (Behind the stack of newspapers), and PUSSYCAT PETE (On the red bowl of cat food).

Inn:

I spy WELCOME (Carved underneath “PIRATES”, underneath the armchair), the key for room three (On the right page of the receptionist’s book), a duck full of water (The lake in the painting), a ship on the sea (In the wall to the left of the key for room one);

Two pencils (One’s on the armchair, lying on the map. The other’s underneath “POND INN”, on the receptionist’s desk), two skulls (One’s stained in the upholstery of the armchair, to the right of the duck lamp. The other’s on the sticker on the green suitcase), a wheel on the floor (On the wooden duck toy, to the left of the yellow suitcase), three things to look through (The binoculars to the left of the teacup, the eyeglasses on the left page of the receptionist’s book, and the camera atop the yellow suitcase. Hides a map piece), and 1784 (On the title of the painting, above the eyeglasses).

Lightkeeper’s Quarters:

I spy a whale (Cracked in the plaster to the right of the oil lamp), a penny (On the baseboard, to the northwest of the green marble), two oars (One’s on the spine of the brown book. The other’s concealed as the upper muntin of the right window), glass that’s cracked (In the right lens of the binoculars), an apple (The core to the left of the standing seagull), two fours (One’s on the alarm clock. The other’s hidden in the left window);

A sword (Disguised as a crack above the window), a chick (Cracked in the plaster to the right of the binoculars), an oil lamp (In between the alarm clock and the inkwell), a bird in flight (Flying above the sea. Hides a map piece), and a postage stamp (On the postcard on the lightkeeper’s desk).

Painting:

I spy two anchors (One’s above the lighthouse’s entrance. The other’s hidden as a crack to the left of the frame. Hides a map piece), a needle (In the topmost center of the frame), my name (Written near the southeast corner of the frame), a lost treasure chest (Floating in the sea to the right of the life preserver), 100 (In the statement “100 times the lightning struck”, on the top frame), a flame (On the wick of the candle in the right frame);

A feeding shark (Above the artist’s signature), a flag (The Jolly Roger on the ship’s mainmast), a door (On the lighthouse), and a single survivor who’s rowing to shore (In the dingy to the northwest of the treasure chest).

Shed:

I spy a bottle (The bottle of glue to the left of the blue book), a blackboard (To the left of the oar), a bee (On one of the wheel’s spokes), a hook for a hand (On the pirate teddy bear. Hides a map piece), a lunchbox (To the right of the telescope, on the barrel), a key (Underneath the clothespin support beam);

DUNGEON (Scrawled to the right of the pirate doodle, on the sketchpad), a clothespin (The left support beam of the column with “Kids Only” graffitied on it), a crown on the wall (On the horizontal beam, to the northeast of the circular hole), a four made of wood (Hidden on one of the wheel’s spokes), and three X’s in all (The X’s in the dirt to the left of the hand trowel, on the miniature treasure chest to the right of the sketchpad, and on the side of the red wagon).
