Over a decade ago, Perfect World (known as 完美国际2 in China) was the first game to incorporate a very in-depth character customisation, the most in-depth in ANY game, and was widely known to the players the freedom of almost editing every aspect of the character's body that can be modified with no exception to even distorting the character's look. Now, the developers have developed a new character customisation system based on the new developed engine, while retaining the essence of what was once great about this game.

The new customisation will be powered by the upgraded engine with a new physics design that will reshape and allow the character model's bone (?), skin textures, hair, facial expressions, and physical movements to look more realistic. This feature is currently in the midst of development, and the latest progress is what the video has presented above.

On the advanced (supposedly deeper) character customisation, players can use the usual grid display and direct drag and drop to intuitively modify the character's face. In terms of makeup, the new semi-transparent effect greatly enhances the rendering of a character's makeup. The new dyeing algorithm makes the colour change range wider, and the transition mask model is added to the surface of the eyeball to make the shadow effect more natural.


In addition, the newly added physics engine, the overall visuals of the 14-years-old game will be greatly enhanced, increasing the playability and authenticity of the game. On the game settings, new options will be added that will allow players to run new visual features such as, the new wind effects, fabric physics and other new effects to show the silky and smoothness of the textures, as well as the natural flutter of the clothes when the character is in motion.

While Perfect World IP continues to expand to both mobile and console platforms, the original PC MMORPG won't be left out. The team is stepping up the development on the game, allowing the game to further expand its horizons and longevity.
