Perfect World Mobile - A Tour of Perfect World | Exploring Game World
Flying around the huge map of Perfect World Mobile [完美世界] takes at least one full hour to fly back and forth, from corner to corner of its game world. Although it isn't an open world game, it does still feel like it's seamless open world, but every region is actually instanced. It's also interesting to explore the rearrangements of the cities and places in Perfect World Mobile, as some of the places may be very very familiar for a veteran player of Perfect World International, but there are also stuff that are almost unrecognisable such as places like the Forbidden Sea, Avalanche Ridges (which is supposed to be a remake of the same northern ridges in PWI, but it seems that the developers have merged it with the glaciers around Tellus City and put them together in one region), The Great lake, and even the Boundless Grassland which I thought was going to provoke some good old memories, but it surprisingly didn't resemble any of those beautiful green plains of PWI.
After 3 months of playing Perfect World Mobile, I honestly feel disappointed as a whole. I'm almost convinced that the people behind this remake had nothing to do with the original (PC) version. First thing that they messed up was the introduction of bot and too much auto-path features, and auto-healing - it's almost an "AFK game" that you can just let auto pilot do the job while you sleep. Second was the lack of NPCs. In PWI, players are highly reliant on NPCs such as the need of constantly being in touch with Teleporters, Apothecaries, Tailor, Blacksmiths, etc. In PWM, you won't feel the need to go to a town or a specific NPC from time to time to buy potions or a specific item, because almost everything can be bought from the boutiques located in the upper right corner of the UI, next to the map. Third, most of the new soundtracks are either 1-minute short or terribly cut, stuck on repeat. Some of the rearrangements of the old soundtracks sound really good. Try listening to the orchestral versions of Fly With Me, the Village theme, and the Primal World theme - they're magical. But I don't understand why the tracks had to be limited to 1-minute short. Not to mention, the background music in Boundless Grassland is an up-beat cinematic music (the Battlefront theme) which means if you decide to fly around the region for relaxation just like in PWI, you will have to listen to its 3-minute track on repeat like you're in the middle of a battlefield. There are more to mention about the downside of this game like the inconsistency in visuals as some of the things you see in the game are very aesthetically pleasing, bright, and detailed; but there are also things like rocks, valleys, waterfalls, and NPC models that looks like they're taken straight from the original graphics of PWI.
