Perils of a Wish Spell- Now a D&D Sorcerer has Way too Much Power| GM 911
A DM has given out a Deck of Many Things granting a wish spell to the sorcerer in the party. Now that player is pushing the limits with his wish- "The power of a 20th level sorcerer". So as Dungeon Masters and players Ted and I do our best to address what kind of spells should his sorcerer select from the PHB.
Original GM 911
Hey guys. Love the videos and it's helped me learn so much since I started gaming last Christmas.
This is a GM999 as I'm from Sunny England
Recently the party discovered the deck of many things. As a player this is the first time I've seen this and was fortunate to draw the wish spell. My 7th level sorcerer has wished for the ability to use and cast as a 20th level sorcerer (I wanted to see how far I could push it). The DM came up with the solution that as I'm carrying the book of ultimate evil (not sure if that's the actual name of it) I can cast upto 20th level through the book and take damage if cast from the book eg. 9th level spell causes me to take 1d20 + 4 damage. the trade of he has made is really good and will make me use it sparingly (unless I take false life). The issue I have is the spells to take do I go full damage and make myself overpowered compared to the rest of the party or do I think of the game and take mostly utility spells with only a couple of damage spells leaving meteor swarm out of it. Knowing how much our dm likes to make things as tough as he can he will jump at the chance to make combat more deadly and notch up a few more PC kills. So from that stand point going full damage makes sense but I think other players at the table may be a bit annoyed with my crazy jump in power which would make utility spells the way to go.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated
