Like seriously though. From my dangerous new neighbourhood to my room full of enough books that they'd make Hermione Granger balk to Evil Igor to the sentient pudding of a principle to the incredibly unwelcoming adults at every corner. What the heck am I supposed to put in the title?

(The title works so well because we're still at the beginning of the game)

So yeah, I mentioned some technical difficulties early in the video. I'll go over them here. Basically, while I'dd done a few short tests, this playthrough was the first thing I did with my new capture card. While recording this part, my capture card was blinking an unusual blue light for the duration.
For whatever insane reason, I decided not to check the recording the moment it started happening. Or after the first recording. Or run any tests. Or do any of this during the next 4 recordings afterwards.
So yeah, it turned out later that it just straight up wasn't recording. Not past the first 2 seconds anyway. At least I had something!
So after recording about 2 to 2 and a half hours worth of footage for this playthrough only to realise nothing visually had been saved, I realised I had three choices.
1. Abandon the playthrough altogether. I could just scrap the idea and play the game for myself. Nothing had been uploaded or edited or even backed up at that point, so no harm had been done. Nobody would be affected. Quitting now would be the easiest option.
2. Keep going but leave out the videos I lost the footage for. It would mean doing a playthrough that skips a sizable chunk of the beginning of the story. Meeting Sojiro, Leblanc, Shujin, Ryuji, the metaverse, Morgana (we'll get to them soon), all of it would just have to be left out and we'd jump from the prologue we saw in Part 1 straight to the middle of the action. It's not ideal, but it would be the easiest method of continuing the playthrough.
3. Having learned my lesson, go back and re-record the footage. It's still early in the game and I still have the live commentary from my first time through. I could still start over and record the footage while listening to that commentary and while doing my best to remember the steps I took while the memory was fresh. It would take a lot of extra time and there would still be missteps and the editing would be a little extra bit of a nightmare, but it would mean keeping the complete experience of the playthrough. This was by far the hardest option.

I went with option 3.
So here we are. To cap things off, there seems to be a bit of a hitch with even this recording and the sound got a bit out of synch later on, which I did my best to fix on top of making up for every moment where my second recording didn't perfectly match the commentary. Sorry about the mess. It'll only be around for a few episodes after this.

The extra editing discouraged me from working on this, which is why it took me two weeks to get on with it, but I'll try to get these out at least weekly. The next one will be here within the week. It's much shorter and I'll be much more driven to get it done. Hope you guys enjoy!

I wish I could say this is the last mistake I made in recording this playthrough. Sad to say, I was still finding my feet with a lot of this and I wasn't careful enough with my experiments. More bumps in the road lie ahead, but don't worry about them. We'll get there when we get there.
