Running out of options, Makoto stalked us and got an audio file in which we speak as if we are the Phantom Thieves. She tries to interrogate Joker and at the worst possible time, Ryuji calls us to talk about Phantom Thieve stuff.
Now Makoto knows for sure we are them. She blackmails US into dealing with the Mafia. She did wonder what methods we used, but we don't really want to tell her everything. She says she is willing to delete the audio file and not talk about it if we help her change the heart of the Mafia boss. But we first have to find out his name...So now we're detectives too, I guess. We looked around the city, from what we found out by talking to some students in trouble, the mafia offers students a quick high paying job that has you smuggling drugs without you knowing it and then blackmailing you into paying so YOU won't get arrested for drug trafficking.
Joker and Makoto did encounter a suspicious individual who offered a job, meaning we are getting close. We figured the only lead we could get would be from some journalist or something. Joker remembers there being one we had contact information with. We send her a mail asking for a meetup. She says she is at Bar Crossroads in Shinjuku at night. Problem is, minors aren't meant to be there at that time. We dealt with the police, running from them, Ryuji got abducted by the Alphabet Soup people, but we did manage to get inside the bar.
We struck a deal with the journalist. We let Mishima talk to her about the abuse that Kamoshida did for her story, and she gave us the name of the boss of the mafia. His name was Junya Kaneshiro. Now knowing his name, we gathered the next day to guess what his palace would be like and where it is. We figured that, since likes money, it would be a bank. His place could be anywhere in all of Shibuya, once Ryuji said that, we got a hit. He sees all of Shibuya as his bank, and the people as ATMs he gets money from until they break down.
Just like how hidden he is in real life, however, his real bank is floating in the skies and only customers could hope to enter. This means Kaneshiro needs to at least see one of us as his customers. Discussing this problem at the mall, Makoto came talk to us about our progress. Ann snaps at her, telling her Makoto is basically useless and shouldn't criticize us.We needed to meet Kaneshiro somehow.
Makoto is fed up with everyone telling her what to do and calling her a push over or useless, so in the spur of the moment, she went running. We chased her only to find a left behind phone. Makoto had met up with the suspicious man who offered us a job and demanded to see their boss. They basically kidnapped her, but we were able to follow her through the phone. We entered a building and the room Kaneshiro is in, where Makoto is being held down.
Kaneshiro took a picture of us where alcohol and drugs were visible, which would be perfect for extortion. He knows Makoto's older sister is a renowned prosecutor, and he would love to have her too. He demands us to pay him back 3 million yen with a 10% interest each passing day, we had three weeks if we didn't want him to leak that photo. Now that Makoto and all of us are in trouble, we figured to let Makoto in on the other world.
Of course, it came as a shock for her. But she quickly understood what was going on. Now that we are considered customers, a bridge is lowered that allowed us to get up to the bank. We were let into a room where Kanehsiro spoke to us on the monitor talking about our debt. When we got angry, he sent goons to beat us up. Of course, we fought back and ran close to the exit where we got surrounded.
Kaneshiro himself came to mock us and tell Makoto of his plans at getting at her sister. Makoto has had it and got angry, summoning her Persona for the first time. Her persona was a bike called Johanna. With her nuke damage and Aikido trained fists, she beat up the goons and drove away. We go after her, figuring to never get on her bad side. Now, she would officially be a Phantom Thieve. Next time, we break into Kaneshiro's bank and find his treasure.
