When I was a child, my family went through a "pet phase," where we had a lot of different pets. I have some stories I feel like sharing from this phase, particularly the tales of Charlie the dog and a couple of gerbils.

These are two different stories, to be clear. They don't intersect, except for the part where all of those things were pets that my family had at one point in time or another.
