I can't play online because the game crashes when transitioning from the loading to the briefing menu since version 2.5. The framerate problem seems to have been fixed but if I can't play online, well, eh. Apparently it's a known bug for over a year and the "fixes" aren't consistant.
Anyway this single player mission uses the premade "gauntlet" short mission from the su27 module where you fight against 4 waves of 2 aircraft, starting with F-5s with guns, then hornets with heat seekers, then F15s with radar missiles, then i think infinite F-15s with all kinds of weapons. The su-27 mainly gets just 3 Air to air missiles:
R-73 is a short range IR all-aspect although targets can be selected using radar lock selector, R-27ET IR moderate range IR (same seeker head as the R-73 I think), and the R-27ER, same as the R-27ET but with a semi-active (Fox 1) seeker. Under 5km altitude there isn't much point to the R-27 missile in general since it's just heavier to carry and you don't get launch authorisation when it's over range.
The seekers seem pretty nasty, I don't think many aircraft can easily defeat these with countermeasures.

Anyway the reason why I'm kinda getting back into DCS (or trying to, still need to fix multiplayer issues) is probably because i've been watching a few videos from this guy's channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/Hellreign82/videos
I kind of fly my T-2 in a similar fashion to his mig21 videos in case anyone has noticed, although I take a more stealth approach than committing to a duel.
