Before you ask why I didn't take any damage, here's the reason:
* Versions 1.0 - 1.3 you are allowed to fall into the pit without taking any damage.
* Versions 1.4 - onwards, you lose 1/3 of your life after falling into the pit and respawn somewhere else. This is mainly because one of the DLC maps in Pikmin 3 added actual holes, the ones that doesn't require glitching.

This is the first major sequence break of the game. It enables players to skip the 80 piece blue bridge construction which saves a couple of minutes. This is done by going underneath a lily pad and then move in a certain angle to clip into the wall to go Out of Bounds. As you fall down to the very bottom, you'll respawn on the Winged Pikmin side of the map. You can call in some Rock Pikmin by using your other captains to throw some part way through the river.
