Streets of Rage 3: Completing Hard for the first time - No 'true' game over.
Although it was intended as a speed run, it looks like it's one of the few games I've played where going reckless on US Hard isn't even wise. On the US version, damage the player receives increases on harder difficulties which isn't the case when playing the JP version.
The length of the stages are long as well.
Stage 1 - 7:25
Stage 2 - 7:01
Stage 3 - 5:50
Stage 4 - 14:51
Stage 5 - 17:55
Stage 6 - 7:07
Stage 7A - 13:22
The actual length of this so called speed run is roughly 1:13:31
Stage 5 alone takes as nearly as long as completing the first 6 stages on Streets of Rage 1 on Easy difficulty.
The reason why I play as Zan is because of these traits:
- Good reach
- Excellent throwing game (throw enemies to hit other enemies)
- Down-Air infinite which is very useful against Jet
- Strongest grabbing pummel damage.
- Good Bread & Butter Poke jabs followed with an offensive special attack.
His biggest weakness is pretty much a poor forward jump attack that deals pretty weak damage.
Unfortunately I did have to use a continue that happened during Stage 5's lift section and a no continue run may have been possible if I started off with 9 lives and picked up a 1UP at the very start of stage 1. So this video is pretty much the first time I've completed Hard in a single sitting.
