Pikmin - Day 06 - Positron Generator
Wow, we're doing really well. Last time, we recouped three parts in just one day! Today, we're heading back to the 'Impact Site', the place where it all began. As we dive in, you'll see exactly why we had to wait to revisit this area.
DAY 06 - POSITRON GENERATOR
The Impact Site contains only two parts of Olimar's Ship to recover. We recovered the Engine on Day 01. So the only other part for us to collect here is the Positron Generator. It's located in an area that's submerged in water, so we couldn't reach it before recruiting the Blue Pikmin.
We start out by taking out 20 Blue Pikmin and 6 Yellow Pikmin. Do you remember the box marked '10' that the Pikmin moved on Day 01? We're going to return to that same area and use the ramp to climb ontop of the tree stump here. But before that, take a peek at the farside of the box.
You'll now find some bomb rocks here. Send your 6 Yellow Pikmin to pick them up. Normally, here on top of the tree stump, you'd fight some sort of mini-boss. But it actually depends on what day you're on. If you arrive here before Day 08, there is no mini-boss.
However after Day 08, if you arrive on an even-numbered day, you'll face a 'Mamuta'. On odd-numbered days, you'll face a slime monster named 'Goolix'. Mamuta is incapable of actually killing your Pikmin, while Blue Pikmin are invulnerable to Goolix. So they shouldn't cause you too much trouble.
We've arrived on Day 06, so this tree-stump area is completely empty. There is a light stone wall towards the far end of the stump. Use 3 of your Yellow Pikmin with bomb rocks to destroy it. Bring your Yellow Pikmin into the next area and hang a left. Use your 3 remaining bomb rocks to take out the bramble fence here.
Much like how the Space Float was hidden inside an enemy. The Positron Generator is being held by a 'Pearly Clamclamp' located here. What you need to do is throw a handfull of Blue Pikmin at the pearl in its center. Have them attack it for a second or two, then call them back.
As you begin to attack, the Pearly Clamclamp will begin to prepare to clamp down. Needless to say, any Pikmin caught inside will be killed. I managed to chip away about a quarter of its life each cycle. When it dies, it'll spit out the POSITRON GENERATOR.
Please note, even after it dies, it will still clamp down at least one more time. So make sure to call back your Pikmins, even after it dies. Have your 20 Blue Pikmin carry it out of the water. Then have your 6 Yellow Pikmin join them to help out.
Once you've secured the part, you can spend the rest of the day building up your Pikmin reserves. It would be good to have close to 100 of each kind. Call it a day whenever you'd like though. Even if there aren't any more parts for us to find here, you can still return to farm Pikmin pellets.
Wow, we've already got 10 parts and have completed one area! That means we're about 20-33% of the way through helping Olimar get back to his home planet.
