Welcome back! Last time, we took our Blue Pikmin (almost wrote Pokemon) for a spin around the Forest of Hope. I spent the rest of the time getting things ready for this chapter. Though, I completely forgot about two Spotted Bulborgs that were in the way.

There's plenty of time to do everything, though. So stop your worrying and let's get to it...

DAY 08 - GEIGER COUNTER

Ok, so we avoided the game's true first bosses by finishing off the Impact Site early. Had we gone there after Day 08, we would've faced one of two bosses: either the 'Mamuta' or 'Goolix'. Both of these bosses are either completely incapable of harming your Pikmin (Mamuta), or at least specific type of Pikmin (Goolix). So there was really nothing on the line.

Today is going to be different. We're facing the 'Burrowing Snagret' and massive losses are unavoidable if you don't stay on top of the battle. After a little practice, I was able to get to the end of the day with just loosing five. However, I probably could've further refined it to just losing three.

Ok, so I start off by taking out 50 Red Pikmin. Before heading straight to the boss though, I'm going to pick off two Spotted Bulborgs that I neglected yesterday. You'll see later that the Pikmin will literally pass right through here and bump into both Spotted Bulborgs, while carrying the Geiger Counter.

These are the two located near where the Eternal Fuel Dynamo originally was. Once that's clear, walk your group over to behind the tin can here. The ledge just above you is the outer rim of where you'll fight the Burrow Snagret. It's really hard to get a large group through the land bridge on the other side, so just throw them up here.

Try to aim for the grass up there. That way the Pikmin will be occupied and less likely to fall off the ledge. If you don't keep them in that corner, it's possible a Snagret might pop up and snatch them. With your Pikmin secure, have Olimar take the trip around and join them...

BOSS BATTLE - Burrowing Snagret

There are three Snagrets here, however you only need to beat one. It's the one farthest from the entrance Olimar uses. Use your Whimsical Radar to confirm which Snagret is holding the part.

The average strategy in this fight is to use Yellow Pikmin. This allows you to throw them from a farther distance. However as you can see, I've brought Red Pikmin with me, because they are stronger. Plus, there's a much easier way to defeat it quickly.

The Snagret will emerge out of the ground every now and then. It won't go back underground unless you leave it alone, or conversely, if you're really causing it some pain. Sometimes when it emerges, the face will get stuck near the surface. This is your opportunity swarm it with all your Pikmin.

Attacking the base of the neck does little damage. If you attack the top of the neck, it does a bit more. However, the face of the Snagret is its most vulnerable. So swarming it while its head is stuck really lets you put a bunch of Pikmin on its head for maximum damage.

Eventually it will go down and spew out a bunch of goodies including the GEIGER COUNTER. Now unfortunately, instead of just carrying it off the ledge and going from there. The Pikmin will carry the Geiger Counter and any of the pellets they pick up right through the Snagret area.

This will most likely attract the attention of the other two Snagrets. You can use Olimar to distract them, but it shouldn't be so bad, compared to the battle you just had. Once that's collected, pull up your map and take note where the remaining part is.

Take out 50 or so Blue Pikmin. You'll need to exit your camp through the side your ship is on. Hang a right through the opened bramble gate we destroyed earlier and a quick left. There's another bramble gate, but it's located on the water, so only our Blue Pikmin can destroy it.

While they're doing that, go grab 5 Yellow Pikmin and go grab bomb rocks (doesn't matter where, player's choice). Leave the camp through the ship-side exit and take your Pikmin to the end of this path. You should see a ledge above you.

That is where the path with the bramble gate the Blue Pikmin just destroyed leads. There's another gate on that ledge just up ahead. Throw your Yellow Pikmin (w/Bomb Rocks) up there. Now have Olimar rejoin the Blue Pikmin. Dismiss them again and have Olimar walk up the path.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT call the Yellow Pikmin with your whistle. This will cause them to drop their bomb rocks. Simply walk up to them to have them join you. Now have them lay waste to the gate and you're done for the day!

Olimar's ship has recovered 12 parts now, which means his ship can travel further. Upon completion of the day, Olimar notes a new area, the 'Distant Spring.'

Welp, it's time to take a break. Join us next time for 'Day 09 - Radiation Canopy'.
