Here is some Planetside 2 R9 290 performance, This game is pretty CPU intensive, so much so that my normal gameplay recording means had to be put to one side as the FPS hit was pretty substantial. I opted to use AMD's Raptr GBE recording function. as it takes advantage of the excellent GPU processing power of the R9 290 to render frames instead of the CPU. This allowed me to record this game with next to no performance hit. This however came with two negatives.
The first was me not being able to run my R9 290 at it's maximum overclock. this is because the GPU is not only working to render the game but also the video recording to and with my max overclock I noticed corruption in the video that was not present while playing the game. this was not a problem when lowering the card to 1100Mhz on the Core and 1450Mhz on the memory.
The second bad point is that I was unable to use MSI afterburners OSD to display GPU information as well as FPS. So I had to settle for Fraps to display the FPS. I hope you enjoy the video
