Hello again and welcome to the first episode of "Play Extend!!". Much like last year, I've decided to get another side project off the ground, similar to last year's "Back the Log Off!". But while BtLO was focused more on playing games on my backlog that I thought people might want to see... despite me not wanting to dedicate time to streaming them live, PE has a different approach. This time around, I'll be revisiting games I finished previously on livestream, clearing secondary objectives that I didn't feel like doing the first time around.

Hence the title.

I decided to start with something that I'd hope would be short to get the ball rolling with this new concept, to serve as a sort of self-contained pilot episode, as it were. As such, there was no better choice for me than to go back to the first two Jumping Flash! games and clear their Extra scenarios, earning both games' "true" endings. The Extra scenarios are remixed versions of the original levels, with shorter time limits in most cases. I did toy with the Extra mode in both games on my first playthroughs last year, but I only managed to make it to the third Extra world in the original Jumping Flash. On the other hand, I got to the true final boss in JF2, but failed to beat it... deciding to give up, given the fact that I was just feeling too demoralized to continue. Besides, I'd already beaten the original campaign -- getting the true ending was just gravy.

As such, I decided to use my files from the previous playthrough to continue my quest to the true endings in both games. Of course, that means that this video was far more heavy on JF1 footage compared to its sequel. Dari did point out before I started that I might be at a disadvantage, because I might be out of practice. He wasn't wrong... but I managed to knock off the rust fairly easy on. In fact, I didn't really have any issues with the last two Extra worlds in the first game. I did have to resort to checking a video for the JF2's true final boss though, but that was mainly due to the time limit. And all the video taught me was: if you miss a jump attack on Captain Kabuki, you're basically toast. Fortunately, I didn't have to use any continues... though that was mainly because the game was quite generous with extra lives.

In the end, I'd call this experiment a success. I plan on including this in the original Jumping Flash playlist, as well as one dedicated strictly to "Play Extend!!" itself. Honestly, I'll likely be doing the same with future episodes, albeit with their correspnding playlists. All that means is that I'll have to explain the concept at the start of each new game. So, if you plan on watching these episodes via the Play Extend!! playlist, please bear with me... because I'm going to be explaining the concept at the start of each new game.

Speaking of which, I'll be playing something a bit more significant next time around...
