Xeno Fighters R is a shmup fangame inspired by the Raiden Fighters series by Seibu Kaihatsu. It is currently under development by Team XF.
The game has four original ships: the Amada Vipros, the Phyxius, the Zaiva, and the Xelcor. It also features guest fighters from other shoot 'em up games by Psikyo, Capcom, Konami, and others. There are 20 stages to play in the game with four different game modes to select from.
The story of Xeno Fighters R involves BRES, a group of humans subverted by the hostile Keto. BRES and the Keto extraterrestrials attack ATHENA through various periods in Earth's war history, using the wars as cover to their operations to destroy the Earth. The guest fighters do not have any connection to the story.
Xeno Fighters R has a long development history, starting in 1998.
The X-36 is a guest fighter from the game Strikers 1999 (also called Strikers 1945 III in the United States). In Xeno Fighters R, it uses the same weapon loadout it has in its source game, minus the Spiral Laser mechanic.
The X-36 is a highly mobile fighter with a continuous stream of forward shots as its main shot and a subweapon that fires aimed piercing lasers rapidly. It is every bit as effective in Xeno Fighters R as it is in Strikers 1999.
Subweapon
Variable Laser: Fires twin sets of aimed fast piercing lasers with a rapid rate of fire. This weapon allows the X-36 to target enemies to its sides, where its main shot cannot reach.
Bomber
Mega Smasher: The X-36 transforms into its Warroid form, which makes it invincible and absorbs enemy bullets. The Warroid then throws a plasma bomb, exploding and dealing high damage to everything it touches. The X-36 slows down during this attack.
Slaves
Standard Raiden F: This is the standard Slave type used in the Raiden Fighters games.
