Welcome back to my series where I complete the "ultimate dungeons" in PMD games! An ultimate dungeon is a 99F level-reset dungeon where you can't bring in items, and I will complete all of them from official PMD games to ROM hacks. As an additional challenge, I won't be allowing quicksaving or rescuing, so I need to beat it in one go.

In this video, I complete Memory Lane. This dungeon has 99 floors, temporarily resets your team's levels to 1, only allows you to bring up to two Pokémon, prohibits you from bringing in items or money, and prevents rescuing. It is unlocked by reaching the Guildmaster Explorer Rank.

Memory Lane is a secret dungeon in Explorers of the Spirit, and was primarily designed by me with help from Pazkallan and Filthy. It is meant to be reminiscent of Purity Forest and Zero Isle South, while still being balanced around all the changes made to the game. It features enemies from every single story dungeon in the game in order, starting at Beach Cave and ending at Temporal Tower. Because nearly every story dungeon is monotype, each group of floors will also be monotype similar to Destiny Tower from Super. Also, just like the rest of the game, there are no traps or random Monster Houses. And just like Zero Isle South, Kecleon Shops in the 90s have the elusive Trap Scarves, Tight Belts, and Google Specs. Your reward for completing the dungeon is a Golden Mask, Wonder Chest, and two Wonder Gummies (the same rewards as Zero Isle North in Sky).

I decided to use the player and partner from the story as my team, since that was the intended way to complete the dungeon, but I believe you're free to use other Pokémon or only one. I used Piplup for its good TM movepool and Water typing, and Cyndaquil for its Fire typing and SmokeScreen. However, I still found the enemies to be quite hard to beat. This could be due to the general balance changes for the story dungeons, but I ended up struggled with a lot of them. I definitely think this is more team-dependent, though, since these same starters struggle with Zero Isle South and Destiny Tower in Sky as well. Thankfully, because of the lack of traps and Monster Houses, most of the time you won't be screwed by RNG, but getting the right items is crucial to success here.
