This game is awesome, and its soundtrack is severely underrated. I played this game quite a bit when it first came out (Explorers of Time), and fell in love with the story. I loved the mechanics of the first mystery dungeon games, so I was quite happy to see them return pretty much exactly as they were! I think I was a Charmander when I played through this game for the first time, and had a Mudkip as my partner. Temporal Tower was a fantastic conclusion to an amazing storyline (won't say much about it for sake of spoilers), and the music was definitely an integral part of what made this game so awesome for me as a kid!
This arrangement was actually pretty hard to put together. I ended up writing some parts that were too hard for me to pull of on instruments that I'm not super proficient with. For example, there were some super fast lines in the bell part that I couldn't pull off cleanly in the time I had to record this, and I scrapped the entire guitar part I had written. Apart from that, I think everything really came together pretty well in the mixing stage; I focused on getting the kick drum and bass to play nicely together, while making sure that the lead saxophone was audible at all times! Reference mixes included Tarova from Snarky Puppy's "Culcha Vulcha" and El from Vulfpeck's "The Beautiful Game". Hope you enjoy!
