[Pod] Single Race: Skyrace

Skyrace is quite unique both esthetically and technically speaking. First, it takes place... in the sky. It also has a lot of spacecraft-related elements like aerospace hangars and dashboards. Even the pit road itself is inside a spaceship!
While it doesn't require much technique Skyrace features many track elements that you won't see in any other Pod level: an accelerator tube, a downward spiral, a double wallride and an aerial crossroad. It is also longer than most racetracks: count about 1'25 for a fast lap, 1'18 being the fastest recorded.
Talking about fast there are two shortcuts to help you achieve a fast lap. The first one is quite risky: after the slippery section following the tube [0:23] cut though the spiral by falling directly into the exit. You may need a lot of practice before getting it right, personally I got used to slow down a bit, ride along the inside wall and smoothly land on the ground. This way I can achieve it like 90% of the time.
Now when you see the first spaceship [0:35] take the route at the left: this is the route to the second shortcut with the double wallride I mentioned earlier. Not much trouble here except if you got a light vehicle which has almost no grip on vertical surfaces. However the lower part of the walls seems to be more sticky than the upper part so you should ride lower if you encounter grip issues.
There is also a secret trick that you can achieve if you got a manual transmission: as soon as your car is taking off from the top of the small hill [0:56] put the gearbox into neutral. That's right, zero gear! Now that the engine is dissociated from the wheels your will suddenly reach impossible speeds, over 500 km/h if you did it well! Finally don't forget to reengage the engine when flying again [1:11].
Like in Pipeline IA has no chance if you do the two shortcuts and the "zero gear" trick flawlessly. Sometimes they are so slow that you might get trapped by a stupid laggard on lap 3. AAAAARGH!
