PoE - Off Color 4 Sockets Smart, Not Hard (Bench Craftinging) [#PoEHack #16]
10Hey exile, bench crafting might be the cheapest way to off-color 4 socket items and here’s how. Let's say you want 2 green, 1 blue and 1 red socket on this helmet.
1. First, force two sockets on the item. Then, force those two sockets to have the least likely socket color for that item, which are the green sockets. But wait, how can I see this?
2. You have to look at the stat requirements. Green sockets are associated with dexterity, blue ones with intelligence and red ones with strength. In the example, the helmet requires 91 intelligence and 62 strength. This means that blue sockets are more likely to roll than red ones, and that red sockets are more likely than green ones. Or in other word, the helmet likely rolls blue then red then green socket colors.
3. Now you alternate between 3 and 2 sockets using the bench until you hit the less likely remaining socket color. This works because the bench craft preserves the existing socket colors and only randomly picks the added one. Since the item already has both green sockets, the next socket you are looking for is red one.
4. When you hit it, you start alternating between 4 and 3 sockets until you hit the last required socket color, in this case blue.
This craft will save you a lot of currency and makes off-coloring 4 socket items very easy. You could also start by forcing 3 socket colors in the beginning, but I found the 2 socket force to be more economic in most cases.
