Wedlocke Challenge Rules:
Rule #1: Fainted Pokemon are considered dead.
Basically, this is the same as a Nuzlocke. Any Pokémon that faints will be placed in the PC or released. This Pokémon can no longer be used, so no mulligans. If a Pokémon is
defeated, it's end of the line. For this run, I will be releasing all Pokémon that have fainted. Hopefully this won't happen but with Nuzlocke rules, it's more than likely to happen.
Rule #2: You can only catch one Pokémon per route. The object of the Wedlocke or the main rule of it is to put Pokemon into pairs, almost as if they are a couple. Love at first sight, y'know? If you enter a route with an uneven number in regards to gender (1 male), then your first encounter does not count until you find the opposite or needed gender. This only counts if you do not have a full party. Once you get a full party, any Pokémon gender Pokémon can be caught. Before there is uproar, I'd like to state that this is in no way against same sex marriage. I fully believe that if you are in love with someone, regardless of gender and are happy then there should be no problem. This is the only time I'm going to speak about this. The rules of the Wedlocke state that the pairings must be male/female though I'm sure you could change it if you wish. Genderless Pokémon cannot be caught and do not count as an encounter. Dupes clause will be active, meaning should I run into a Pokémon I already own, it doesn't count as an encounter.
Rule #3: All Pokémon must be nicknamed. This is basically a given as it is the same in a Nuzlocke. Because I will be recording a few of these in advance due to moving house soon, I'll be naming these myself. Should I forget to nickname a Pokémon after capturing it, then I will ask you guys for a nickname suggestion.
Rule #4: You can only switch between pairs. For example, if I have a Treecko and I then catch a Wurmple with a different gender, they are considered a pair. If I catch a Zigzagoon and a Poochyena after that, they are another pair. If I am in a battle with Treecko, I can only switch into Wurmple and not Zigzagoon or Poochyena as Wurmple and Treecko are a pair. If I want to switch around, I have to switch before or after battles, not during unless it is to the current Pokémon's pair. Should one member of a pair faint, you can replace them with a Pokémon that is in your PC to make a new pair, basically filling the vacated spot. Should both Pokémon faint, you can make a new pair entirely from Pokémon in your PC. If a member of a pair faints during a double battle and I have an uneven number of Pokemon because of it, I have to switch into another one of my pairs. For example, if Wurmple faints in a double battle and I send in Poochyena, I then have to switch Treecko out so I can bring in Zigzagoon.
Rule #5: Pokémon cannot be deposited into the PC. This doesn't count in regards to Pokémon that have fainted. If you get a full party of six, that is your party until a Pokémon faints and you need to replace a Pokémon or a pair. The only way this rule is allowed to be broken is due to HMs.
Finally, the Wedlocke ends once I have defeated the Pokémon League. However, it will be active during the battle with Steven. Like I have done with Pokémon Red and Crystal, I will be catching every Legendary Pokémon available to me in the game. I will also be trying my best to win all the battle symbols at the Battle Frontier. The Wedlocke rules do not apply in the Battle Frontier, nor does the pairing system. I will be using the party I have at the end of the Pokémon League in it, however. So whoever lasts until the end of the Pokémon League party wise will be used in the Battle Frontier.
