Pokémon Fire Red Nuzlocke - Part 5: Brock Solid
7Welcome, everybody, to my Pokémon Fire Red Nuzlocke Challenge! Join my coverage of Honest's journey throughout the Kanto region in search of new friends and exciting challenges. There are many obstacles to overcome in a Nuzlocke Challenge, but the whole idea behind the challenge is to create a stronger bond between you and your pokémon. Success is just a bonus ;)
If you're not sure what the rules to the Nuzlocke are, here they are (modified to my liking):
1: If a pokémon faints it is considered dead, and must be released.
2: The player may only catch the first Pokémon encountered in each area, and nothing else. If the first Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances.
3: While not exactly a definite rule, the general consensus is that players must also nickname all of their Pokémon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.
4: Dupes Clause: If the first Pokémon encountered on a route is one that has already been captured, it does not count as my encounter on that route. In addition, if the first 5 encounters are duplicates, that route is considered invalid and must be abandoned.
5: Once a space in the party has been filled, that Pokémon cannot be replaced unless it is killed. Any extra Pokémon must remain in the PC until an open space in the party becomes available. (HM slaves are permitted if they are necessary to progress with the game, but they cannot be used in battle).
6: The number of healing items I use in battle may not exceed the amount my opponent has used. For example, if my opponent uses 2 healing items, I can use up to but no more than 2 healing items in that battle. This does not apply to held items such as berries.
7: Due to the implementation of rule 5, if I suffer a "black out/white out" where my entire party is killed in battle, that is NOT the end of the challenge so long as I have Pokémon in the PC. In that scenario, I am allowed to train up a new team and continue the challenge if I am able. If I have no Pokémon left in the PC, the challenge is over.
