Sixth gym leader in our challenge, in spite of featuring "Win" in her name, Winona isn't all that hot, to be frank with you. Definitely a step down in difficulty compared to Norman and his monster Slakings. Still, there's much in this battle that's luck-reliant or tough in other ways. Depending on the Pokemon, anyway.

Winona leads with Swellow, which runs nothing but normal and flying type attacks. Magneton walls him "completely" and can 2HKO with Spark. The problem is that this Swellow likes to play with the odds, abusing Double Team to get an evasion increase, making this a bit more luck-reliant than desirable.

Paralysing it with Thunder Wave is an option, but that's one turn we're not trying to deal any damage to it, meaning we're essentially permitting it to get more Double Teams in. Spark has a chance to paralyse anyway, so I go with that. Winona will try to heal, so it can go on for longer depending on my luck with evasion. Endeavour + Quick Attack tends to be annoying, too, but that's what items are for.

Altaria will probably come in next (since Earthquake is 4x effective against Mganeton, and its moveset contains that), so I switch to Vileplume to sleep it.

Here's the deal, Vileplume survives a super-effective Aerial Ace, unless it is boosted by Dragon Dance (which WILL happen if the battle goes on for too long). Sleep Powder is 80% accurate so it can't be too bad. What I forgot, however, is that Altaria has Natural Cure, allowing her to restore its status while switching out. I switch to Rhyhorn after sleeping it preparing to abuse Rock Blast and see Pelipper (who OHKOs me with Water Gun).

Electrode is faster than Pelipper and OHKOs with Spark. This is an easy one.

Altaria enters the field again, preparing for revenge. This time I paralyse it instead, hoping it doesn't switch out. That will put those Dragon Dance boosts to waste (ones to speed anyway).

After this we should switch to Rhyhorn and pray Rock Blast doesn't miss and hits enough time to kill Altaria. Dragonbreath does considerably more damage than a half of Rhyhorn's HP, but since the AI is too dumb, it might waste a turn Dragondancing. Even after one DD, Rhyhorn survives the powered up Earthquake thanks to his great defence.

Some sacrifices are necessary here, to ensure the key Pokemon are healthy for Altaria.

Skarmory is last and it's the easiest one of them all. Vulpix comes with Flamethrower learnt in one of the next areas of the game, so I evolved one with a Fire Stone and brought it here... Let me tell you, it wasn't all that useful because this time Winona's Skarm got lucky with all the accuracy haxing.

Stealing my strategies? How dare you, Winona! Anyway, Electrode does a passable job resisting Skarmory's STABs when Ninetales fails to deliver, so this is the easiest part.
