The first Tera Raid Event in 2024 is now live, unless you count the Walking Wake and Iron Leaves event that happened at the end of 2023 and carried on over to 2024, but anyway, the featured Pokémon is Blaziken with the Flying Tera Type, this is another Starter Pokémon in the 7 Star Tera Raid battles, so maybe we might see every Starter Pokémon be featured in the 7 Star Tera Raid battles. They did announce that next week, the Blissey Tera Raid Event where you get a lot of Tera Shards will have another repeat run.
In this event, Blaziken has the Flying Tera Type, and its moves are Blaze Kick, Brave Bird, Earthquake, and Low Kick, and its extra moves are Overheat, Rock Slide, Swords Dance, and Bulk Up, and it has the Hidden Ability of Speed Boost. When there is 90% time remaining, Blaziken uses Swords Dance, and at 65% time is when it uses Bulk Up. At 80% HP or time, that is when Blaziken puts up a shield. At 90% HP, Blaziken will reset your stats, at 79% HP, it uses Overheat, at 70% HP, it resets its stats, and at 50% HP, it uses Rock Slide.
This can be a challenging opponent because Blaziken can deal a lot of damage with its attacks when it uses Swords Dance, and I have prepared some counters depending on the teammates. The main one I had planned for this one is Wash Rotom with the Stellar Tera Type, this is so that Rotom keeps its Fire resistance while also boosting its Electric-type moves. Another Pokémon that I have for this one is Milotic, which I gave Breaking Swipe to in order to reduce Blaziken's Attack stat, and I gave it Dragon Cheer to increase the critical hit of allies, and because there were a lot of players using Miraidon, Dragon Cheer increases the critical hit rate of Dragon-type Pokémon by 2 stages. None of them worked at first because one player decided to bring Ogerpon into the Tera Raid, there was one where another player brought Walking Wake, which didn't have Chilling Water or Breaking Swipe. In the end, I had one attempt where everyone was using Bellibolt, and I ended up using Miraidon to help them out, Bellibolt can be a good supporter with Chilling Water and Acid Spray, while using Parabolic Charge to heal while also dealing damage.
To list other Pokémon that are good options, while Milotic is a support Pokémon, the new Paradox Pokémon known as Raging Bolt is a good pick, this is because Raging Bolt not only pairs well with Miraidon as it is the only Pokémon to learn Rising Voltage, but it is also an Electric/Dragon-type and benefits from Dragon Cheer from any Milotic users.
For solo attempts, Bellibolt or Miraidon are good picks, but you will want allies that have Intimidate, like Staraptor, Arcanine, or Tauros, while an ally like Drifblim can use Will-O-Wisp to reduce the damage from Blaziken's attacks.
Then to go over Blaziken, it does come with its Hidden Ability of Speed Boost, and it does come with some good attacks like Blaze Kick, Brave Bird, and Earthquake, it will require TMs to get Swords Dance and Rock Slide, and this Pokémon can even work as a mixed attacker as it does have a good enough Special Attack stat to put it to use. Blaziken can learn a wide amount of attacks, like Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Acrobatics, Shadow Claw, U-turn, Thunder Punch, Poison Jab, Aura Sphere, Heat Wave, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Baton Pass, Stone Edge, Knock Off, Vacuum Wave, Scorching Sands, and Upper Hand for notable attacks. The Flying Tera Type on Blaziken does power up moves like Brave Bird and Acrobatics, it can go with Fire or Fighting to further power up Flare Blitz or Close Combat, or if you want a defensive Tera Type to make use of Speed Boost, it can go with Grass to resist Water and Ground-type moves, it's got many options to put them to use, it's also a good Pokémon for the Stellar Tera Type, as that does allow Blaziken to keep its STAB for Flare Blitz and Close Combat, and with Swords Dance, it can be a dangerous opponent. The Stellar Tera Type can even work in Tera Raid Battles, but for alternative moves, Blaziken can use Temper Flare for a Fire-type move that does not have recoil, even if it has the same base power as Fire Punch, and Close Combat does come at the cost of Blaziken's defensive stats, making Brick Break more reliable, or even Reversal when its HP is low.
