The next type is Poison, and before I start this video, I show that around the time I recorded this video, there was a Mystery Gift code that was only available for one day, it would give you a Gastrodon that was used by the winner of the Japan Championships 2019 tournament, and it had 31 IVs in all stats except Attack and Speed, it has 0 IVs in Speed, and its moves are Surf, Ice Beam, Earth Power, and Protect, and it is holding an Expert Belt, so this Gastrodon is designed around Double Battles.
Then to go over my Poison-type team for Restricted Sparring, and this is my second attempt, because I got defeated by a Lunatone on my first attempt, well I had a burned Scolipede and Toxtricity, and I Dynamaxed my Dragalge without realizing that Lunatone had Cosmic Power, and I had already used Draco Meteor before Lunatone was sent out, and I think that opponent had a Quagsire, and there was no way I was going to keep Toxtricity in against it, Scolipede had already fainted then. Lunatone even had Moonlight, so I couldn't reliably take it out, and I didn't even have any problems with it before then, but then again I did fight the Lunatone in Grass and Fire-type Restricted Sparring, and I had optimal moves, but in this case, it had to be based on my bad luck.
I might as well go over each of my team's roles, starting with Scolipede, she has Speed Boost for her Ability, and is equipped with a Focus Sash so she is not taken out in one attack, so that way I can get a Swords Dance boost and attempt to sweep with Megahorn, Poison Jab, and Earthquake.
Next is Dragalge, while she is slow, she has Adaptability, giving her Sludge Wave and Draco Meteor extra power, and I have read about Dragalge being a good user of Flip Turn, and it was a tough choice between Scald and Hydro Pump, but I settled on Scald, and Thunderbolt is there for Dragalge to deal with any Water-type Pokémon she is up against.
The last team member is Toxtricity, one of my favourite Pokémon from Gen 8, Toxtricity might as well be in my top 10 favourite Pokémon in general, it's also my favourite Poison-type Pokémon, despite Poison being my least favourite type, but Toxtricity's design makes up for it. The set that I went with on my Toxtricity is the Throat Spray set where he is equipped with that item to give a Special Attack boost after one use of Boomburst or Overdrive, and he can Gigantamax, and G-Max Stun Shock can get in either poison or paralysis on the opponent, so this can be very useful.
While Poison-type Pokémon are known for inflicting status conditions, there are some notable options, some defensive ones like Galarian Weezing, Toxapex, Amoonguss, and a few others, and Galarian Slowbro is another good option to use for this.
Poison is a type that is only super effective against two types, those being Grass and Fairy, so Poison isn't a popular type on the offense, and Max Ooze from Poison-type moves is preferred for Special Attackers, and there are some Poison-type Pokémon that specialize in Special Attacks, like Roserade, Venusaur, Salazzle, Toxtricity, Dragalge, Gengar, and a few others, and on the Physical side, Toxicroak and Drapion are the few Poison-types that work on that end.
For Gigantamax Pokémon, Garbodor is the only one that has a Poison-type G-Max move, while Gengar, Venusaur, and Toxtricity can also Gigantamax, their G-Max moves use their other type. For other notable options that you could use, Tentacruel, Vileplume, Qwilfish, Skuntank, and a few others are good options.
As Restricted Sparring does not allow Legendary Pokémon that would be banned, you cannot use Eternatus, if that was allowed, it would be a must use, because Eternatus is one of the most overpowered Poison-type Pokémon in the game, and even if it has the same type combo as Dragalge, the difference is that Eternatus has higher Speed, so at least it does make it a bit better in terms of stats, if its Eternamax Form could be used, that would make it completely unfair in battle, because Eternatus in its Eternamax Form has the highest base stat total of all Pokémon, and it has the highest HP, Defense, and Special Defense stat, but it's only for a form that you cannot otherwise use.
