Our next Max Raid Battle Event will be from November 2nd till November 30th, and there will be increased appearances of Bug and Poison-type Pokémon. The following Pokémon that will appear in those Raids include Butterfree, Ninjask, Shuckle, Garbodor, Vileplume, and Toxicroak, some decent choices of those types of Pokémon, and I decided to do the Isle of Armor for the Wild Area event, although you can get Dynite Ore from the Event Raids.
To start things off is Butterfree, one of the two Gigantamax Pokémon in the event, its Bug-type moves become G-Max Befuddle, which can inflict poison, paralysis, or sleep on the target. Butterfree's stats might seem average, as it is an early game Pokémon, but it has seen use in VGC Tournaments early in Sword & Shield, as it was the only Pokémon to get Rage Powder before the addition of Amoonguss in the Isle of Armor update. Butterfree is a bit outclassed by better Pokémon, although G-Max Befuddle seems nice when it comes to inflicting status conditions. Its Hidden Ability is Tinted Lens, while it is good, I find Compound Eyes to be better, so that way Butterfree has 97% Accuracy with Sleep Powder.
Ninjask's Hidden Ability is Infiltrator, and while it does seem good when it comes to ignoring screens and Substitute, Speed Boost is the best Ninjask could go for. Ninjask's main role is using Substitute and Swords Dance while boosting its Speed through its Ability, and then using Baton Pass to give those boosts to a powerful Physical Attacker that can sweep through an entire team with those boosts. Ninjask does have a good Attack stat to make use of moves like X-Scissor, Dual Wingbeat, and a few other moves, but it can't take hits very well, as Ninjask is very frail on the defensive side.
Shuckle might have the highest Defense and Special Defense of all Pokémon, but the rest of stats are very low. Its Hidden Ability is Contrary, so if you find a Shuckle with Contrary in the Max Raid Battles, it is tough to stop with those Defense boosts. Shuckle can use Shell Smash to boost its defenses if it has Contrary, while a nice strategy, and another is Power Trick, giving Shuckle a very high Attack stat in exchange for low Defense. Shuckle has access to some other moves, like Stealth Rock and Sticky Web for entry hazards, and it can use Power Split to average its Attack and Special Attack with its target, but aside from that, Shuckle isn't that great of a Pokémon in terms of battling.
The other Gigantamax Pokémon in the event is Garbodor, its Poison-type moves become G-Max Malodor, which can poison the target. It has higher Attack and good defensive stats, and its Hidden Ability of Aftermath is the better Ability for it. Garbodor isn't too great of a Pokémon in the competitive scene, while it does get access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes for entry hazards, and it can get Drain Punch, Stomping Tantrum, and Seed Bomb for coverage options, Garbodor is outclassed by better Pokémon.
Vileplume did see use earlier in Sword & Shield, before Venusaur was available in the game, but right now, Venusaur is the better Pokémon with Chlorophyll. Vileplume has Effect Spore for its Ability, which is nice defensively. It does get some nice moves like Giga Drain, Sludge Bomb, and Moonblast, and it can use Strength Sap to restore HP while lowering the target's Attack, but aside from that, it's just outclassed by Venusaur as a Grass-type with Chlorphyll.
The last one out of the event Pokémon is Toxicroak, its Hidden Ability is Poison Touch, which does seem good, as it has a 30% chance of poisoning the target if Toxicroak uses a move that makes contact. Toxicroak has a good Attack stat and decent Speed, and Dry Skin is the preferred Ability, specially in rain teams, and it learn some good moves like Poison Jab, Drain Punch, Sucker Punch, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and the Elemental Punches, and it can use Swords Dance to boost its Attack. Its Special Attack stat is decent, and I have seen some players use a Special Toxicroak with Nasty Plot, Sludge Wave, Dark Pulse, and Focus Blast, but they are a bit rarer, and Toxicroak isn't a Pokémon that you see that often in online battles, since it is outclassed by better Pokémon, and its type combo gives it a huge weakness to Psychic, so it can be tricky to use in battle.
