2020 has ended, and now we have entered the new year, and to celebrate, there is a Mystery Gift distribution for a Pikachu holding a Comet Shard, and it knows an exclusive move called Celebrate, that move does nothing, but you get text congratulating you when you use that move.
To start off 2021, we get a Wild Area Event which is live from January 1st till January 31st, and we get boosted appearances of Normal and Dragon-type Pokémon, so the following Pokémon that have boosted rates include Duraludon, Haxorus, Goodra, Snorlax, Bewear, and Cinccino.
It is time to go over each of them, and starting things off is Duraludon, its Hidden Ability is Stalwart, which allows Duraludon's moves to ignore moves and Abilities that draw in moves, so if its opponent has Lightning Rod, its Thunderbolt will ignore it, same if an opponent uses Follow Me, so this is a good Ability in Double Battles. Duraludon's Dragon-type moves become G-Max Depletion when Gigantamaxed, although most players prefer Dynamax on Duraludon to get the Attack drop from Max Wyrmwind, although G-Max Depletion can drain PP from Pokémon that rely on 5 PP moves for their main move, like Cinderace for example, where Pyro Ball has 5 PP, or 8 if you use a PP Max on it. Duraludon has good Defense and Special Attack, but its Special Defense isn't that good, but most Duraludon sets use an Assault Vest to bypass it, and it learns some good moves, like Flash Cannon, Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, Body Press, Solar Beam, and a few other moves, so Duraludon has good versatility in battle.
Then we have Haxorus, while its Hidden Ability of Unnerve prevents opponents from using their held berries, I prefer Mold Breaker, so that way Haxorus can damage a Pokémon with Levitate with Earthquake. It does get Rivalry as well, but I don't find it to be reliable, because to make good use of that move, Haxorus has to be fighting Pokémon of the same gender as it. It has a very high Attack stat and respectable Speed, making Haxorus a good user of Dragon Dance and some powerful Physical moves, like Outrage, Earthquake, Iron Tail, Close Combat, Poison Jab, and a few other moves. With the right set-up, Haxorus can shred entire teams with that high Attack stat.
Goodra has a unique Hidden Ability called Gooey, when it is hit by a contact move, the attackers Speed will drop, but most players prefer Sap Sipper of Goodra so it can switch in on a Grass-type move. It has good Special Defense and is a good user of the Assault Vest, and it has access to some good moves on both the Physical and Special side, like Draco Meteor, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Surf, Dragon Pulse, Sludge Bomb, Earthquake, Power Whip, and a few other moves. Some players use a Weakness Policy on Goodra to make it a good Dynamax user, and so it can deal some huge damage against opponents, as Goodra can be hard to take down when Dynamaxed.
The next one is Snorlax, its Hidden Ability is Gluttony, which is a good Ability for its Gigantamax form, because G-Max Replenish allows it to restore its held berry, so it pairs well with a Figy Berry. It can use Curse and some good Physical moves, like Body Slam, Earthquake, Heavy Slam, Darkest Lariat, Heat Crash, and a few other moves, and it has high HP, so when Snorlax is Gigantamaxed, it can take hits well, and it is a devastating force in Trick Room, specially if it has a teammate with Follow Me and it uses Belly Drum before Gigantamaxing, so Snorlax is devastating in Double Battles.
Bewear's Hidden Ability is Klutz, it is not a good Ability, as that prevents Bewear from using items, the only Pokémon that comes to mind that can make use it is Lopunny with Switcheroo holding either a Choice Scarf or a Flame Orb. Bewear has good Attack and HP, and Fluffy is the preferred Ability, as that allows Bewear to withstand contact moves, but makes it weak to Fire-type moves, and it can learn some powerful Physical moves, like Close Combat, Darkest Lariat, Earthquake, Zen Headbutt, Iron Head, Double-Edge, and the Elemental Punches. Bewear is a good user of the Weakness Policy thanks to Fluffy, it can take a Play Rough or Brave Bird when Dynamaxed, and that will allow it to sweep teams, downside is Bewear is a bit on the slow side.
The last one out of the event Pokémon is Cinccino, its Hidden Ability is Skill Link, and while Cinccino is one of these Pokémon that I feel doesn't get much appreciation, Skill Link makes it devastating in battle, it has great Speed and good Attack, and it has access to moves like Tail Slap, Bullet Seed, and Rock Blast, which hit up to 5 times, and some Cinccino sets use a King's Rock to get good flinch chances. Cinccino even gets the Tutor move Triple Axel, and that will ensure it hits up to three times, Cinccino has great potential in battle, if only players didn't look down on it, because it is a great Pokémon if you know how to use it.
