Pokémon Violet Playthrough – Part 4
I quickly head over to the Medali Gym and meet Nemona once again (1:13) before registering for the Gym Test (1:48). This is a pretty unique one where you have to find out how to order a secret dish by battling other Gym Challengers to obtain their clues. After defeating all three, I figure out their clues (4:00), (6:21), (7:33), and figure out the answers (4:13, (10:24), (11:31) before heading to the Treasure Eatery. There, I find out the answer to my clue from a patron of the restaurant (13:33) and give my answer to the gym test (14:03), which is: ‘Grilled rice balls’ (first option), ‘medium serving’ (second option), ‘Extra crispy, Fire Blast Style’ (third option), ‘Lemon’ (second option). With that order, the dining hall transforms into a battlefield, and I challenge the Gym Leader, Larry. If you are not properly leveled, he can be pretty tough, so I make sure to use X items to easily defeat him. After getting the fifth badge, we see Geeta again (22:45), who oversees a battle between me and Nemona. Nemona’s Lycanroc is pretty fast, which could have taken out my Skeledirge, but I was able to easily win through using some X Defense items.
After defeating her, I explore a bit of West Province (Area Three), finding the gate to the Great Center of Paldea which is currently locked (35:03) before heading up north. As I go through the area, I notice that Skeledirge defeats a Ditto (38:33) that transformed into a Jumpluff, so you will see me try to find one at multiple points through this playthrough. I eventually reach the Dalizapa Passage Pokémon Center (49:09), where I find a Bagon (50:08) and temporarily add it to my team.
I continue up the cave, which eventually leads to Glaseado Mountain (1:04:30). I go through the mountain and make it to the Glaseado Gym, which will be my sixth gym. Once I arrive, I mean Professor Jacq (1:16:11), who gives me a Lucky Egg. This item will allow the holder to gain more experience than usual, which will help with overleveling your Pokémon, so I give it to Skeledirge. I register for the Gym Test (1:17:16), easily clear the slope run, and take on the Gym Leader, Grusha. He is the highest leveled gym leader in the game, but since he uses ice types, I have an easy time with Skeledirge thanks to Torch Song constantly boosting its Special Attack each time it is used. After getting my sixth badge, Hassel visits once again (1:31:52), then I quickly head over to Montenevera since it is close by.
I meet Nemona at the gym (1:34:12) and have a battle with her. After defeating her, I register for the Gym Test (1:40:50), which is to get the audience heated up with three double battles. After easily winning them, I take on Gym Leader Ryme (1:51:00), who uses Level 41-42 ghost types in a double battle format as well. After easily defeating her, I get the seventh gym badge, and meet up with another member of the Elite Four, Poppy (1:55:58). Afterward, I head down Glaseado Mountain and end up at a Team Star Base (2:11:39). I look around the area for a bit before I raid the place (2:21:09) and take on their leader, Ortega, who uses Fairy type Pokémon in the low 50s. After defeating him, I save and wrap up this part.
