With us officially in the postgame, we are basically free to do whatever we want. I head back to Area Zero to catch some Paradox Pokémon that have spread to the upper levels, such as Iron Hands (2:29), and Iron Treads (11:07). I face off against the second Miraidon (14:37), failing to catch it a few times since I accidentally knock it out. I finally manage to catch it with a Repeat Ball (28:36) since we technically have a Miraidon of our own already. With it in hand, I travel the area a bit more, finally coming across Iron Jugulis (33:16).

After exploring a bit more, I finally decide to rebattle the Gym Leaders, starting with Katy (39:24), Brassius (48:08), Iono (55:36), and Larry (1:04:50). Most of these battles were pretty easy outside of Iono’s Mismagius causing issues again. After defeating Larry, I learn that you can change the Tera Type of a Pokémon by going to the Treasure Eatery and giving 50 of a shard to the cook. Then I hunt for Ditto once again, eventually finding one (1:19:54) since it appeared on the map (due to me facing an NPC with one, it registered in the Pokédex). Unfortunately, I fail to catch it since it transformed into my started, but now I know in this game, Ditto will disguise itself as other Pokémon in the overworld. I try to find another one, but I realize that you can save and quit in front of it since it would disappear.

I head back to the grind as I rematch Kofu (1:38:24), Tulip (1:49:02), Ryme (1:55:58), and Grusha (2:01:15). After finishing all eight rematches, I am told by Geeta to head back to the Academy, where I meet with her to get a report on which Gym Leader I believe is the toughest and most prepared for my rematches. After resting for the day, Nemona explains that the Academy Ace Tournament is all set up (2:11:08), so I register for it (2:12:49). This tournament basically replaced the Elite Four rematches since you can face any Uva Academy staff member or one of your rivals at their best, and at the end, your party will get the Paldea Champion Ribbon. I go through the matches easily, facing Arven, Professor Jacq, Instructor Dendra, and have a rematch with Champion Geeta. After the final match, Shelgon evolves into Salamence (2:36:05). After the tournament, Director Clavell mentions that the tournament will keep on being run, which is how you can easily level up in the endgame, and Jacq mentions that extremely hard Tera Raids are popping up (2:40:08). I show that Salamence has earned the Paldea Champion Ribbon, then save.
