Poko Poko Magical [ぽこぽこマジカル] Game Sample - PC/Doujin
Poko-Poko Magical is a cute game by Donburi Soft (and perhaps their most ambitious title) that features a cute 10-year-old girl named Sketch, a curious and positive apprentice witch who inherited some of her power and good nature from her grandmother (or in this case, obaa-sama). One day, Sketch was being taught that there are many magical items that are great and wonderful, but that there are also dangerous artifacts that should never be touched.
Sketch happened to come across a beautiful little box. Before she could recall what her grandmother had said about magical items, she decided to open it, and before she knew it, she was being drawn inside of the box. She fell and she fell and she fell, until something unexpected broke her fall. As she got up and looked around, she was in a strange new world made of sugar, spice, and everything nice, but there was something amiss.
Strange little creatures known as "Drops" were sent to attack her, but luckily for Sketch, they weren't as crafty as herself. Using some of her magic tricks, she was able to trap the drops and remove them from the area. She was soon confronted by a mischievous baddie known as "Bad Wizard" (his true name is unknown) who he mistook as a threat and feared her ability to thwart his Drop Minions. However, he learns that she is just a fledgling and that she poses no real threat, so he taunts her and feels she isn't strong enough to defeat him and leave. Now Sketch must become stronger and learn how to become a compotent witch if she wants to stop the drops and defeat the bad wizard to go home.
Skecth's primary ability is to use her magic wand to draw and erasse magic circles on the ground. When she completes a drawing, the magic circle becomes active and can trap enemies that waltz by. Once they are trapped, Sketch can remove the circle and erase the enemies along with her spell. As she progresses, she faces tougher, faster, smarter drops, but also can gain items to help lure or defeat them. The game is easy to learn, but harder to master. The visuals are decent and the game is accompanied by nice spoken segments and cute music. It's a good doujin title. Enjoy.
