Hey. Been wanting to do this for awhile, and got extra motivated once I realized there was a mod for the English release that restores the original Japanese statistics for the game, damage from your weapons, the damage bosses take, how much damage you take depending on your defenses, environment damage, all of that is restored which makes the game considerably easier.

It's still a tough game if you aren't careful but it's a lot more manageable now. Anyway.

After a lengthy opening, we learn of the lore of the world we're venturing into, but when we join our heroine having a rough day bounty hunting, it seems as if Mail's story and adventure has little if anything to do with the lore drop before the title screen. She gets a lead on a 2 million bounty on a magician named Muttonhead, and thus sets off to catch him ASAP.

It turns out that the small gang that caused Mail trouble at the start are working with him as we learn after encountering Slick, a name you will either learn too love or hate. After climbing a mountain she encounters Tatto, a red magician whom was an apprentice of Muttonhead. After dispatching the mad bomber, Mail ends up rescuing Namo, and after getting him back to his village we get a lead on an optional boss battle from Mythia who was robbed, so we double back to an area we skipped over before.

So to comment, Mail while a bit down on her luck, once taking this case her career essentially already starts to go on a rise, and she is clever if not a bit shrude. As well as ruthless and quite temperamental.
